This is one of the reasons that I do not use my actual photo for most online interactions. They are using tagged photos on Facebook to train their algorithms and build their facial database. It isn't too much to expect other services to be used as well.

If they have access to your DMV photo...it's just a matter of processing them. No clue if that info is stored somewhere or not though.

True, but the more pictures of you that they have, the easier it is to begin recognizing your face at various angles, lighting levels etc. They have to build a profile and one picture often isn't enough to build a model that has a high probability of accuracy across all conditions. Once you have 100 pictures on Facebook, that other people have tagged you in, their ability to feed all those photos with tagging into their system, the social network has essentially done the hard work for them.

Yup. This one was over and lost with the Patriot Act and the expansion of the NSA. I'm as philosophically opposed to this as anyone, but I'm realistic enough to know that it's too late to win this battle.

I'm all over the place in databases as I have my handgun carry permit and my C&R FFL, so I'm not so worried about me, but this kind of thing is PRECISELY why there are zero pictures of my kids online. It feels irresponsible to me to post images of my kids that will only add to facial recognition databases without their understanding or consent. When they get older, they can choose to do this, but for now they'll stay offline...

Yeah..This "Big Brother" is always watching us gives me the creeps y'all..I read an article a while back & it stated that if you're being investigated by the federal government..They have a program that when you open your laptop & get online, there's a program the feds have, that allows them to come through your laptop & watch you through your camera on the laptop when you're online..That creeps me the hell out..

Hell, I feel that way every day.
I must have good and bad days. I'm on the BOD of our local civic association and our pic appeared in our local newsletter. A lady at our church came up to me and told me that it was a terrible pic of me in the newsletter, didn't look anything like me. I just thanked her and agreed... :)

I bet they like to watch people when they are looking at porn. Sounds like a fetish to me.:)

They dont really need facial recognition. your cell phone is the easiest tracking spyware they will ever need to use to find out where you are and everything on your mind. for the vast majority of us, we are quite honestly too irrelevant for them to care about. it is only the rabble rousers that get lit up and smoked once they try to change the system.
