This is just for fun. By no means do I think this is written in stone nor should it be the lineup. This is just my personal opinion of who I think will start game one against West Virginia. Certain players I would have ahead of others if they weren't recently injured (Ex. Rueben Foster and Eddie Jackson). I would like to know your thoughts and opinions. P.S. Don't tell Saban about this depth chart ;)

There is no such thing as Depth.. He put the best players on the field for each situation..

.

.

Ty Flournoy-Smith is a TE, not FB.

.I’m kinda iffy on TE depth.. they use two tight ends for some formations, so. if that’s the case, expect Smith and Howard on the field together at same time..

WRs- I don’t consider depth at that positions.. They’ll rotate players in and out throughout the game... I know Sims, Stewardt, Falkins and Black are going to be key players this year.

.

.

LT- Too soon to put Cam Robinson.. NO way you put freshman ahead of Dominick Jackson.. especially when he’s ready to play right way. They’re going to ease in Robinson this year..

Disclaimer:. Grant Hill is considered the “ sixth man” for all position on OL for this year.. give that some thought..

.

PK- I disagree.. Griffth is be ahead of Scott… Just need to work on his. confidence...

.

.

Defense:

WDE- I think Robinson and Pettway spilt time with first unit.... Johnathan Allen is too good to sit on bench… so I .don’t know about that

.

Jack- I think Tim Williams is second behind Dickerson

.

Will- I believe that isn’t right.. .I think Dillon Lee .Rueben Foster and Ragland was battling for the position next to Trey Depriest..

SAM- Lee is somewhere in the field… not sure where yet. Too soon to decide.

.

.

DB – This can’t be the depth for the fall. Eddie jackson will miss 2 or 3 games this fall,. but I can’t see him losing his job to freshmen... No way. Tony proved his point, but has to work on being consistency.. Eddie fell victim to that last year... This is toosoon to predict the DB positions..

.

SS- Hootie Jones may slide into 2nd slot, but will spilt time with Nick, depending on how he performs....

.

KR and PR- I heard .Christon Jones may not be doing the returning duties this year..

Just spoke with Coach Saban about your depth chart on TF. He got online to see what you had for the 1st game but I can't repeat what he said.

I wish but after watching A-day and the comments made about Griffith's progress I feel it may happen. Hopefully he can regain the confidence because the talent is definitely there.
This reminds me of the Leigh Tiffin saga. Everyone on his case for his bad game against Arkansas. But he wound up being a great kicker, give Griffith a chance. Everyone's to quick to condemn and not having any patience.

This is a guess as for the D-line that gets the most playing time:
A Robinson, J Reed, J Allen, and D J Pettway at Jack. Tomlinson, Ivory, Kirven, and Dickson see lots of time, too.

O Line: Ryan Kelly, Austin Shepard, Grant Hill, and ??????

Just looking at the qb specs, I didn't realize Cornwell was as big as Coker.

Someone mentioned that Cornwell didn't come here to be 4th string. I agree, but the injury is probably the major reason he's where he is now. I can't imagine that it hasn't limited his reps, even with a black jersey/no contact I imagine he was still limited to some degree.

With his physical tools and GREAT attitude he'll climb the depth chart and I wouldn't be surprised to see him get to #3 sometime next year.

You know.... He's gonna pass morris and batemab easily because they're rumored to be transferring.... Either way Cornwell will be no. 2 next year....but he has lot of work to do

Wouldn't surprise me about the transfers, although I think Bateman could be servicable and eventually a good qb in Bama's system, ala GMac.

Cornwell may end up at #3 behind Coker and Sims, but if it's a situation where Coker eventually wins the starting job, Sims would likely stay at #2 for clean up duty, but if Coker went down with a season ending injury it could be like the year AJ was reported to have been the real #2 even when he had the redshirt.

If Coker and Sims can provide what we need next year, hopefully Cornwell can get the redshirt and still have 4 to play 4.

Do you mean Black is Cooper's backup and Foster is Jones'? We've tended to use WRs based on a particular position rather than just the best overall WRs.

LT
1st String Cam Robinson 6'6 325 Fr.
2nd String Dominick Jackson 6'7 312 Jr.
3rd String Brandon Greene 6'5 304 R.So.
I'm not sure Dominic Jackson plays on the left side. He's played on the right his entire career. He might pass Arie at LG, though.

1st String Xzavier Dickson 6'3 268 Sr.

Pretty sure Devall and Dickson are fighting for the starting Jack spot. Ragland and Depriest look to have the middle locked up with Lee possibly starting at Sam or playing any LB position depending on the formation.

Disclaimer:. Grant Hill is considered the “ sixth man” for all position on OL for this year.. give that some thought..
As I mentioned above, Dominic has always played on the right side. He can play G or T, which might mean he passes Arie at LG.

I know Saban said he feels good about Eddie returning, but we have to plan for him to miss the season. Thus, I can see putting him that far down the list. If he's able to return, great. This appears to be a case where we need to plan for the season without him just to be sure, though.

Looking ahead, the 2015 defense is going to be redonkulous.
I've thought about that, too. It has the potential to be extremely good.

Yeah, I could see him passing Bateman and Morris with pure skills alone once he gets 100% healthy.

He may have the purest skills of any qb on campus right now.

Bateman's improvement this spring may help him hold off Cornwell another year. The injury didn't allow DC to get as many reps in practice as he normally would. Wouldn't be surprised if Morris and/or McLeod trannsfer this spring, though.

something that stands out to me is that we're not as deep at some positions as we ought to be, namely ILB and S. I know Lee is really in the mix at ILB also, but that's really just 5 guys at the two spots and one is a true freshman. If he didn't enroll early we wouldn't have had enough depth at both spots for the springs game. I also don't know that holcombe is an ILB right now. Seems like he's more of an OLB type. on paper S looks ok, but only because nick perry got hurt and was able to come back for an extra year and we'll likely lose 3 S after 2014 season so then it looks really thin...
