2014 Roster announced

I'm really concerned about that roster. I still don't see where the offensive firepower is going to come from for us to win the close games. Varidel may help, but he is streaky specialist. None of the freshman we signed are the type to come in and be game changers, and our sr class doesn't have a consistent 15 points a game type player. I really think we may be in for another woeful season. (and goodness gracious do I hope I'm wrong about that.)
*PS: This also has nothing to do with Grant or the coaching staff, nor is this intended as fodder to get that type of debate going. Just an observation of what I know about the players we have.

I think Shannon Hale could provide pretty consistent offense if he's improved some. But yea I agree with you overall. We need someone who can get there own shot and create for others. Will be hard to replace Releford also.
I think Ricky Tarrant will be a scorer for us this year, if he is given the opportunity.
I'm not sure, but he's on campus. UA hasn't announced it for whatever reason.

Spoke to folks in The Basketball Office today - they said Varidel is on campus and his not being listed was a mistake. Can we not even get the roster right these days in Basketball?
Like most Bama teams I don't see the inside players needed to compete in the SEC.
Listing two players from Switzerland on a 15-man roster may make Grant fearful that critics will start branding his style of ball "Swiss cheese defense."
A lot of new faces for a team that only had one senior last season. I'm looking for points from Randolph, Tarrant, and Hale...and Coach Grant. I'm tired of the inside players getting muscled around but don't know what to expect out of that group this season.
Tarrant averaged over 15 pts a game at Tulane so I think he can be a scorer. Levi and Coop can too but have to do it consistently. Hale is the future and we need him to step-up and take over.
I will not be hard on them just yet as they have not played a game but on paper it does not look great.

Well, as previously mentioned, we have some individuals who have shown they can score (for us or on other teams). I'm especially excited about Hale's development. However, seeing it is a team game, I think collectively, this can be a pretty good team. It looks like we will actually have depth. We have had some really good teams on the ropes the past two years, only to lose down the stretch. Not saying that we would have won, but quality depth would have given us a chance.

There's a difference in being overweight and out of playing shape and having some weight and muscle to you.
I actually like the possibilities I see.
Obasohan and Tarrant in the back court, Randolph at SF (he is listed as a guard, but his position is a 3 all day long), With a three man rotation of Hale/Taylor/Kessens down low, and Cooper as our super-sub energy guy. That is 7 guys I think can contribute. I worry about depth, which will depend on if the Freshmen can make an impact straight away and if Varidel gives us anything in the way of scoring.
