Detroit in decline - when do the professional sports teams bail on the city?

I was pondering a bit about how the professional teams in a dying city like Detroit are able to keep going. With a dwindling city and people moving out, how do they put fannies in the seats enough to keep the respective arenas of play open and pay the athletes, much less turn a profit? Is there that much of a suburbia draw to keep up 4 professional franchises? At what point does a team struggling to make ends meet, bail and run to the first city offering new digs to play in?

There are plenty of bright shiny cities just clamoring to put themselves on the map. What better way than to have a pro sports franchise or two.

I just don't ever see The Pistons finding another City to move too..The Piston Fans always packs each game I've ever watched during the regular season & then has as good support during the play-offs as any team in the NBA..

Detroit is a shining beacon to a half century of Democrat mayors. They recently went GOP for the 1st time since 1962.

You reckon they think he can turn them around?

Their sports franchises are the least of their worries.
