Cool story. The way I heard it Mickelson called Jordan Spieth and told him to get a partner and we will play a practice round. Mickelson's partner was Rickey Fowler. Spieth calls none other than Justin Thomas to be his partner. Think it is cool to see that Spieth asked the guy he squared off against 3 yrs ago in the NCAA Championship match to be his partner. It's also cool that Jordan and Justin beat Mickelson and Fowler by a stroke. Really hope that Justin makes the cut and has a good tourny.

Good story on the connection between the two.

Well our guys didn't fair as well as they would have wanted to in the 1st round of their 1st U S Open. Justin finished +5, Cory +7, and Robby +8. They can feel a little bit better in that 2 time Masters winner Bubba Watson finished +6. Lets hope that today the ball bounces their way and they finish the 2nd round strong.

Good article about Justin. http://www.news-record.com/sports/p...cle_af048dc8-f1ab-11e3-bd85-001a4bcf6878.html

A good interview of Cory's family in Houston. http://www.click2houston.com/sports...to-cheer-on-houstonian-cory-whitsett/26447664

Well Martin Kaymer ran away with the field in the U S Open Sunday, winning by 8 strokes finishing -9. It was predicted at the beginning of the week that even par would win the Open and for everybody except Kaymer that was true as only 2 other players, Rickie Fowler and Eric Compton, finished under par at -1. Everybody else was +1 or greater. Some notables; Jim Furyk +3, Brent Snedeker +2, Rory McElroy +6, Phil Mickelson +7, Zack Johnson +9, and Webb Simpson +10. The best Score by an amateur (and the only one to make the cut) was Matthew Fitzpatrick from Northwestern at +11. It was predicted that the course would be brutal and it proved out to be that except for Kaymer. It was like he was playing chess and everyone else was playing checkers.

Next years Open will be at Chambers Bay Golf Course, just outside of Tacoma, Wa. http://www.chambersbaygolf.com/ A really cool looking links golf course.
