"Held without bail" probably means not allowed into the Mountaineer offensive huddle this season as well...
That ole lightening in a bottle thing! Meh...He definitely won't play against us, and it's a decent loss for WVU. Smallwood was expected to be one of their main offensive cogs this season, so it's a legitimate departure.
Of course, if we play as we should, I doubt it matters much either way...
The Delaware attorney general’s office has dropped its witness intimidation charges against Wendell Smallwood, hours after an acquaintance of the West Virginia running back pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Smallwood was arrested in Morgantown earlier this month and extradited to his hometown of Wilmington, where police alleged he attempted to persuade a murder witness to recant her statement tying Zakee Lloyd to the 2012 shooting death of Wilmington resident, Manuel Oliveras, 51.
In other words, he reached a deal with the DA's office that he would testify against the alleged murderer in exchange for his witness intimidation charges being dropped, with the murder defendant then entering a plea once he realized that Smallwood was cooperating with the DA. Great legal strategy by his defense counsel, but frankly I don't think that would (or at least should) make much of a difference in the eyes of a CFB program. Never know, though, Holgerson is a pretty desperate man at the moment...Charges against Smallwood were dropped today. Link
