Alabama has landed its second big 2016 commitment of the day from Savannah (Ga.) Savannah Country Day athlete Demetris Robertson committing to the Tide per sources close to Robertson. The 6-foot-1 165-pounder had Alabama and UCLA in his top two.

Robertson is in Tuscaloosa for the Tide's prospect camp. He becomes Alabama's third commitment of the 2016 class, joining Shyheim Carter and Benito Jones, both of whom also pledged to the Tide while at camp.

Wow! Top 40 player and #1 Athlete. Welcome and RTR Demetris. Keep them coming RTR91!

I just watched his soph highlight video and WOW! I see why they have him listed as athlete. He is fast and electric with the ball in his hand but also is instinctive and physical as a DB. I think he will be a slot WR but he may end up at CB. Great pick-up!

Latest on Robertson:

The high school football landscape in Savannah was seriously shaken up Monday with the announcement that Savannah Country Day’s Demetris Robertson, who has committed to Alabama, has transferred to Savannah Christian.

Robertson, a junior defensive back/wide receiver, will apply for a hardship transfer with the Georgia High School Association, and his eligibility status should be ruled upon by GHSA executive director Gary Phillips in the next two weeks. Robertson may have to sit out the season.
Not sure how this one will play out. Apparently his new HS coach is a UGA guy, though, so that's not exactly comforting.

Re: *** 2016 ATH Demetris Robertson Commits to Bama ***

Robertson has been ruled ineligible for the remainder of this (his junior) season due to violation of the Georgia HSA transfer eligibility rules. Per al.com:

Demetris Robertson, a 5-star athlete in the class of 2016 and one of Alabama's three class of 2016 commitments, has been ruled ineligible to participate in games by the Georgia High School Association.

Robertson transferred from Savannah Country Day to Savannah Christian at the beginning of the school year, but the GHSA ruled him ineligible under the organization's migrant student rule.
Honestly, not really sure what to make of this. These transfer snafus like this can run the gamut from being highly suspicious to being totally inoccuous, and you rarely have any way of knowing until well after the fact. Definitely a talented kid, though, so let's hope to have him stick and to keep his head right.
