Thanks for the post/thread Catfish.

One of my heroes as well.

Mr. Garner was an Army vet serving in Korea for 14 months receiving 2 Purple Hearts.

Huge contributions to our entertainment culture.....he will be missed.

My fav. roles were as Hendley....aka "The Scrounger" in "The Great Escape" and his Polaroid commercials with Mariette Hartley.

Mr. Garner married Lois Clark in 1956 only 14 days after meeting her at an Adlai Stevenson for President rally and they had one daughter together plus one from her previous marriage.

Racing, Golf, and Politics were all interests outside of acting.

He led a full life.

RIP Jimmy.

Such a good actor...he always seemed to "fit" the role he played; don't know anything about the craft, but I would say it takes considerable acting skill to pull that off. He'll be missed.

Anybody left who starred in a 1970s private eye show?

Never thought of him in this role before - Would Garner have been a good fit in the role of Coach Bryant?
