Just heard Michael Bloomberg on Fox News . He said the Crazy immigration policy is holding the American Economy back by not allowing people to immigrate to the United States that would start new business that would in turn create new jobs.
He agrees on controlling the border, but says more people are leaving America across that border than coming into America across the border. He said undocumented persons tend to not commit crimes , use our schools or hospitals.
He seemed very supportive of the President and critical of the Republican Party.

I think this a classic example of the disconnect between the super wealthy and the rest of the country. Most persons immigrating to the US, especially illegally , are not doing so to start businesses . I also don't see why the national guard would have to be called to stop people from leaving the US. This isn't East Germany.
I have respect for Bloomberg for his business savvy , but If we ever elect this man President, it will be a huge mistake!!

For a really rich guy, he's not very bright.

He is a liberal politician. Like most, he is adept at lying to push an agenda.

What information does he have to suggest more people are leaving than coming? I'd love to see where he gets those stats.
After having their babies in the US and establishing a bank account and faux address, they are leaving, but still getting their welfare, EBT cards and other associated sundries that the government provides for them.

Well...in NEW YORK that's probably TRUE.....It's sorta like some folks thinking racial problems all occur south of the Mason-Dixon line. There's not a LOT of folks sneaking across the border to NYC.

They're all here in Texas and California.

As to the first part, he is either lying through his teeth and doing so knowingly, or he is just plain dumb. As to the second part, I will second Tidewater's wha....? comment. Mr. Bloomberg could come to Dallas and tour Parkland Hospital, particularly the Emergency Room and Labor/Delivery. Then, if he waits a few weeks he could make his way through schools in the Dallas Independent School District and their ample ESL programs. Then maybe a brief tour of Lew Sterret Justice Center before heading back to the private jet?

First you will have to convince him there are paved roads outside of New York.

The rest I totally agree with. Is a Progressive far left of a liberal?

One main goal of the Progressive movement was eliminating corruption in government by exposing and undercutting political machines and their bosses and establishing further means of direct democracy. Progressives also sought regulation of monopolistic trust corporations through antitrust laws, which were seen as a means to promote fair competition for the benefit of consumers.
This is accurate, as far as it goes. The rest of the story is that, while Progressives distrusted the free market, they had limitless faith in the ability of government bureaucrats to "set things right." Of course, government bureaucrats are not more competent at managing the economy that anybody else, and arguably less so. This is why you see the proliferation of government agencies to manage various aspects of the economy, social safety net, etc.
Former laissez-faire capitalists often just switched their allegiance to whichever party was in power and sought the enactment of government policies to support themselves and to hamper their competitors.

Re: Micheal Bloomberg on immigration and the economy

I think immigration is a great thing: the more, the merrier. We need the numbers if we want to compete with the Chinese in the coming decades.
All things in moderation.
Legal immigration is fine as long as the legal immigrants brings something to the United States besides a desire to get on the dole and their gang membership card.

Uncontrolled immigration is a death sentence for the United States. There may be a place on a map called the United States, but it will be unrecognisable and bereft of those things that made it the United States.

He's not stupid - he's intentionally misleading.

I really don't give a crap what somebody who wants to tell everyone else how much cola they can drink says. The sooner that power-drunk national socialist media tycoon disappears from public discourse and influence over the useful idiots, the better - in whatever form that disappearance takes.

Immigration is in need of reform, but reform can not allow being overrun , invaded or whatever exaggerated term you would like to use for what has happened the last 20+ years.

Re: Micheal Bloomberg on immigration and the economy

I am ever the contrarian:) . Here is an article from The Atlantic that supports some of Bloomburg's claims about net migration. Easy read.

http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2013/07/americas-emigration-problem/309410/

The conversation about immigration reform centers on all the people who want to come to the U.S. But the flow of migrants in and out of the country has changed markedly over the past decade, as have economic conditions in both the U.S. and its traditional feeder countries—most notably Mexico, the largest source of immigrants by far. Perhaps it’s time to broaden the discussion beyond who’s coming into the U.S., and look at who’s leaving.

Pretty graphs in the link. Data sources are at the end of the article.

I await the ire of my fellows!

Hey, look at the flip side: just as Obama helped boost AR15 sales, we should thank Bloomberg for his sustantial role in prompting gun manufacturers such as Remington Arms to move to Alabama. :D
