BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina’s Steve Spurrier always considered the Gamecocks were a long-term project, even if some on the outside of the program saw it was just a quick lay-over for the national championship coach.
“I didn’t plan on being here two or three years and try and get one of those glamour jobs,” he said Thursday. “I wanted to see if we could build this up to something special.”
