(CNN) -- An American named Douglas McCain was killed last weekend in Syria, where he was fighting for ISIS, two U.S. officials told CNN.

The man's uncle, Ken McCain, said that his nephew had gone to fight as a jihadi and that the U.S. State Department told the family Monday about the death.

Douglas McCain died in a battle between rival extremist groups in the suburbs of Aleppo, Syria's once-bustling commercial capital and largest city, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a British-based group that monitors the conflict.
Good riddance.

That is an Urban Legend
Interesting. I didn't know what was being referred to so I looked it up.

"I never found any indication that it was true in extensive research on his Moro experiences," Vandiver wrote. "This kind of thing would have run completely against his character."
Similarly, I've been unable to find any evidence corroborating the claim that Muslims believe that "eating or touching a pig, its meat, its blood, etc., is to be instantly barred from paradise and doomed to hell." It is true that Islamic dietary restrictions, like those of Judaism, forbid the eating or handling of pork because pigs are considered unclean. But according to Raeed Tayeh of the American Muslim Association in North America, the notion that a Muslim would be denied entrance to heaven for touching a pig is "ridiculous." A statement from the Anti-Defamation League characterizes the claim as an "offensive caricature of Muslim beliefs."

All I know is that when we fight with the two eyes for one eye mentality we when. If we are going to fight, fight to win and win fast. These turds aren't worth American blood but they are more than deserving of some of our bombs. A lot of them.

The UK Spectator's Take. Defeat ISIS: Yes we can.
Max Boot is an American neo-conservative, but worth a read.
I found this hilarious:

Obama has already increased the US presence to more than 1,000 troops and set up two joint operations centres with the Iraqi military in Baghdad and Erbil. He has also begun air attacks on Isis, which are being carried out from the aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush. The CIA has apparently also begun to arm the Kurdish peshmerga, whose resistance to Isis had been hindered by lack of ammunition and heavy weapons.

Max Boot wrote a very excellent book called The Savage Wars of Peace- Small Wars and the Rise of American Power the best book of 2002.

I think Bamachile or perhaps you, Tidewater recommended it to me. I think Boot's advice in the article is spot on. We don't need a massive ground force to deal with ISIS. Small forces sufficient to the task are a hallmark of the many "small wars' discussed in his book.

An interesting aside mentioned on the Rachel Maddow Show is that the US Administration calls the terrorist ISIL instead of ISIS. The L standing for Levant which includes Jordan, Lebanon, parts of Israel and Palestine as well as Iraq and Syria.
