8. Three positions are under the microscope at Alabama’s scrimmage today.
9. Missouri scrimmaging this morning. Questions still to be answered include the number of freshmen to play this year.
10. Georgia quarterbacks air it out in Friday night’s scrimmage but a couple of freshmen defensive backs also shine. Coach Mark Richt not happy with his offense: “It was just frustrating.”
11. Coach Will Muschamp on Florida’s Friday scrimmage: “We’re pretty healthy. Knock on wood.”
12. Tennessee has an open practice tonight. Freshman wide receiver Josh Malone had his confidence boosted by a scrimmage this week.
13. South Carolina receivers coach Steve Spurrier, Jr. on Shaq Roland: “He has come a long way. When he first got here, I think he was a little arrogant.”
14. Big change of philosophy this season in the Arkansas secondary. Expect defensive backs to be much more physical and aggressive.
15. USA Today: Mississippi State has quietly been laying a foundation under Mullen.
16. Plenty of competition in the Auburn secondary. Only Jermaine Whitehead is a lock at field safety.
17. Big key for Ole Miss this season – how will its sophomore class perform? Quarterback Bo Wallace's backup will be a redshirt freshman.
18. Kentucky offensive coordinator Neal Brown on running back Stanley “Boom” Williams: “He's the fastest guy we have back there.”
19. LSU coach Les Miles on why the transition to college is harder than the one to the NFL: “The play changes in the NFL, but you don’t have school. You prepare the whole day on football.”
