I saw this on Facebook. Most of the comments were about how we pay the refs. SMH
That's completely idiotic. On the other hand, I do think we get the benefit of the doubt at times. Referees are only human and perception is important. If they know that Alabama players are generally less inclined to get penalties than other teams, the refs are less likely to be looking for fouls from our side.

I also think is a good reason for teaching behavior discipline. If I were a ref, I KNOW I'd be more inclined to see penalties from a team whose players trash talk, celebrate after plays, etc., than from a team whose players hand the ball off to the refs after scoring, usually refrain from trash talk, etc. Even if I were trying to be fair, I suspect that I would subconsciously favor the more disciplined team when watching for holding penalties and the like.
