The defense look confused and somewhat disjointed most of the first half while they were trying to get lined up pre-snap. Things looked better (to me anyway) the second half. Several of WVUs big plays seemed to come with our defense out of position, again mostly in the first half.

I would like to hear from the Sims haters that have been all over the board since the day after the Sugar Bowl last year. You guys seem quiet.

Defense only gave up 16 points....they played better and better. I do think we will see Tony Brown in Sylve's place...he was overmatched and I don't know why they stopped throwing to no. 5. RTR...
Sylve just didn't turn his head when the ball was there. He looked to be in pretty good position except for that fact. I do agree though that I think Tony Brown is about to see more playing time.

I wasn't one of those folks, in fact my first posts were today. I'm hoping the season goes such that you can post the same thing on the first of October. I'm not that high on BS but we'll see (Crimsonaudio's stats kind of hushed me up!) RTR

I think Sims did well. He wasn't perfect, but I don't see his play as a reason for people to be hollering for Coker.

I think if the OL played pretty well.

I would be pretty happy with special teams if it wasn't for that return.

Disappointed in lack of pressure from the front 7.

Someone recently said here that Sylve didn't look like a WR playing CB anymore... Have to disagree.

I thought the O-line looked good as well. They run blocked effectively. WVU stacked the line so much late in the game it was tough to find holes. They pass protected pretty well too, and Sims can escape pressure effectively. I would like to see him tuck it and run a little more.

I felt bad for Brown with the three penalties, but not so bad I didn't yell get him out of the game after the second holding penalty.;) on TideFans.com

Complain about him being our qb.... No I think he had a good outing,but.... I just hope he gets more polished in not forcing the ball, throwing low balls, and not looking receivers down before we get to sec play, but other than that he performed nicely

IMHO Better line play than expected. Two badly dropped passes, one=no 1st down, one=no touchdown. Sims good sometimes, but a few questionable passes, altogether a very good showing in a first game as the starter. Would like to see Coker in a real game just for sense of comparison. Defense, especially backs, is a work on progress. A win is all that matters...ROLL TIDE?

I was annoyed we couldn't finish the game and pick up the 3rd and short yardage running plays. Seemed like cost us a game last year as well..
