COMMERCE | It’s only fitting that Commerce named its field house for former football coach Steve Savage on Friday.
After all, Savage estimates he spent about 15 hours a day during his 22 seasons at Commerce.
“I lived there,” Savage said. “…I’m proud that the town and the school system was willing to do that for me. It’s a good feeling.”
Savage was honored during halftime of Commerce’s 28-21 victory over visiting Banks County (0-1). Savage compiled a 181-85 record over 22 seasons, including leading the Tigers to a 13-2 finish and a state title in 2000.
