I have to think that in the end they will get the Four teams right. If the AP, Coaches, and Polls of public opinion ALL have the same Top 4 teams in varying order then there is just no way they could put a team ranked 5-8 in there and ROB a team.

Not without major backlash to the point of disbanding the entire committee or replacing members. They have leeway on the Seeding and that's fine but no matter how they seed them they HAVE to get the 4 teams right if they enjoy the 'prestige' of being involved in the selection process.

Criteria and processes that work for a 68 team field will not necessarily make sense, let alone work, for a four team field. That's a key problem with the current playoff selection process. I'd call it a mistake or oversight, but that requires one to accept (and I don't) that they aren't setting this up intentionally to fail, thereby guaranteeing that people demand a larger field than they would have accepted out of the gate.

OK, I broke into the office last night and got the cheat sheet out of Long's safe.

The following are acceptable excuses for defeat not counting:

1) If the women's basketball coaches are killed on the day of a football game and you blow a 24-7 lead because your entire team suddenly got overwhelmed with grief (the Mike Gundy exemption)

2) If your quarterback gets hit on the first possession and misses the rest of the game (the Colt McCoy exemption)

3) If your quarterback misses the game for a vile insult (the Jameis Winston exemption)

4) If your two best defensive players miss an entire half of a big game for being thugs the last game (the Auburn exemption)

5) If your kicker misses a chip shot that would have won the game (the Boise State exemption)

6) If your team loses a game because of horrendous clock mismanagement and thus loses by spiking the ball with one second left (the Les Miles Exemption A) or the center snaps the ball behind the quarterback (Les Miles Exemption B)

7) If your team loses because fog rolls in off Lake Michigan during the game (the Chicago Bears exemption)

8) If your team loses because of a stupid rule that needs to be changed (the Tom Brady exemption)

9) If your team loses because you went for two and the win in regulation when you could have tied (the Gerry DiNardo-Brady Hoke exemption)

10) If your team loses on a horrendous call that should have been overturned (the Preston Gothard exemption)

I didn't see an Aubrens exemption. Surely, there must be one.
