Go back and watch the game. You'll see #50 was constantly getting beat by a defender on almost all play. Shank Taylor as well.
I thought our O-Line actually did a descent enough job, when you consider what you pointed out, D's have no respect for Blake's arm & they're crowding the LOS bringing more players than our O-Line to block..And Blake had time many plays to find the open WR's & just didn't get the ball to them..I though Bozeman playing his 1st start in a hostile environment did a good job & got better with the more reps & experience he got as the game went on..If he starts next week..I honestly think our O-Line will play better cause Boz has that much needed hostile SEC environment under his belt & he did learn & got better as the game went on..We have to remember he is w RS Freshmen thrown into the fire that game..And I thought he held his own & got better..And will be better & more confident the next game..And that will go a long ways in how much better our O-Line will look..I have no doubts they will do better the next time out with Boz at C..

LOL..Point well taking & I accept all hexes I put on our Boys..Shame on me..(G)
You are not supposed to do that during an Alabama game! See, this is part of our problem. You were not focusing on what was important and we almost lost! So, I'll blame that last false start by #77 on you.

When Alabama is playing, everything else ceases to even exist. No channel changing. I screwed up last week and posted using my iPad while watching that game and lost it for the Tide. Won't happen again!

Yup..I noticed & I believe that was Alphonso Taylor..I hope the coaches makes a change with him..He's really big & really slow..There's not much you can say about him..He's a "Road Grader" that allowed his guy blow by him to many time..Hopefully the coaches can find the righ combination if Kelly doesn't come back this week..I still think Bozeman did get better at the C spot as he got more reps during the game..

That's why, I thought The reason we didn't do well was because of those two...They didnt generate the push like they should've... You noticed we kept going to outside a lot? I think Grant Hill and Domerick Jackson get a look this week.

They lifted the OL calls from Bozeman and gave them to Shepherd...

He looks hurt to me & just not 100% at all..He looks nothing like the RB many compared to Marcus Dupree last year..I actually think we have a lot of players that look a step slow like they're not 100% to me..
a similar thing happened with trent in some games in 2010, iirc. when you are getting met, or re-directed 2-3 yds deep in your own backfield as soon as you get the ball, it is hard to run over people. at some point, i would imagine that the rb's mind is going first to "I'm about to get hit and i need to avoid that" instead of "i need to aggressively hit my gap/hole"

I believe Grant Hill has been ill the last few weeks. Saban even mentioned a while back that he guessed he will come back when he is ready. I saw a tweet from one of the media guys during warm ups mention Grant Hill was not on the field and maybe didn't make the trip. Don't know what is going on with him.

I haven't read any of this thread, so I might be repeating what others have said. If so, I apologize. Here are my thoughts two days after the loss...

1. We were very sluggish.
2. Something needs to change on special teams. If we need to try new return guys, do it. We just need to do something.
3. Arkansas had a perfect storm to stop us on offense: just finished playing a game against the best defense in the SEC and probably the nation, breaking in a redshirt freshman center, continuing a revolving door at RG, limited in the passing game due the rain and wet ground, they had a bye week.
4. Our DBs need to do neck exercises to learn they can rotate their heads.

did anyone else notice that on the play he got dinged, he aggressively went for the first down and got it (and got pasted), but that late in the game he ran out of bounds 6 inches short of the marker (and I believe this was the series where we ran the worst qb sneak in history.

amari's body language during the game basically screamed "what in the world are we doing out here."

was his choice to run out of bounds rather than take the contact for the first down due to his being dinged up from earlier or was it him choosing self-preservation for the future?

he's clearly frustrated from the last two games and I wonder if that frustration may manifest in him simply looking ahead to the draft.

We do have the potential to run the table...but the OL has to step up. I will add that when we dropped 7 and rushed 4, not only did we get to the QB, but our pass defense was much better. All our gambling/blitzing did was give them opportunities for a big play. CNS is known for his blitzing on 3rd and long...works when you have 4 AA dbs...not when you have mere mortals. Arky was ready for the blitzes...countered them to a t. Most of their passing yards came on those type of plays.
OTOH, we set offensive football back a few years...but at least we are not PSU-UM -- playing the role of "Mr. Insignificant." Sad.
I was screaming and praying during the game for us to stop the house blitz on 3rd and long. We almost did it enough for them to win the game. Against one of the few teams we play that actually allows us to make situational substitutions it was mind boggling to me how we didn't put our speed rushers on the field until our blitzes had been ripped to shreds. We had Arkansas in the exact position you want them, obvious passing downs, and we weren't able to stop them until we abandonded the blitz game. This isn't just a problem in this game or this year, we have been torched on blitzes for the past two years that I can remember. Our defensive playcalling on 3rd and long is utterly predictable and teams have clearly prepared to stop it.

I only remember seeing Tim Williams on three plays in the game. One led to a sack by Anderson after Williams forced the QB to move, another led to a hurried pass as the Qb was trying to escape Williams, and on a third Williams again affected the QB. I was so thankful to finally see us use the talent that we have recruited for the situations that we recruited them for. We got a better pass rush with our 4 designated pass rushers than we did bringing 7 guys on the blitz. Our blitzes either are too disguised to the point that we don't get any pressure before the QB can find the hole created in the secondary or our players are just too slow to get there quickly enough. Either way slow developing blitzes with a somewhat shaky secondary is not a recipe for success. It honestly seems like the Qb has as much time as he would normally have even when we blitz 7.

Please unleash Tim Williams, Anderson, and Evans when our defense does their job on first and second down.

I'd add Foster, except for the fact that his stinger problem seems to have become chronic...

Not mention a lot of times we try and "disguise" the blitz by not having all the blitzers up on the LOS. I can't stand when we do that. It never works. It just puts more pressure on the secondary to cover longer because it takes longer for the disguised blitz to get near the QB..

Trey DePriest is not exactly fleet of foot....I don't like blitzing Trey on a delayed blitz at all. he is a great run stuffer of a LB but I think he needs to be two steps faster.

The win was not a pretty one, but the players never gave up. They were very enthusiastic when Landon got the INT near the end of the game. I'm going to support the players and coaches. It's their decisions and their decisions only that affect game play. Nothing I say is going to matter nor should it. It's my job to be a fan. Not saying any person here is doing anything less, but this can be analyzed all day and beaten to death all year. Let's get ready to watch them play aTm. Roll Tide!!!

There was quite a bit of whining after UT 2009, mostly by the UT fans, of course, but quite a bit by disgruntled Tide fans, grumbling that our team wasn't all that. But I do agree that the sense of entitlement has really grown...
I feel ya bro. but the 2000 season should teach any Bama fan that they should never have that feeling again.

I've mentioned that several times. I like Trey but blitzing is not exactly in his wheelhouse. We should use Rashaan Evans in that situation. He would get to the QB almost every time.

I would like to see a 3rd down package look something like this : Reed and Ashawn inside and Tim Williams and Dashawn Hand outside on the defensive line. And then bring Rashaan Evans on the weak side edge blitz, or just up the middle. We just need to get more speed and athleticism on the field when we have the offense in 3rd and long and obvious passing situations. This would help out the secondary tremendously..

But we know he won't play until he shows Saban and Kirby he can do everything well. We face Myles Garrett Saturday. He's a true freshman "pass specialist." He isn't a very good run defender, but he already has 6.5 sacks. I wish we would use our freshmen like other teams.

Yea and I guess I don't really understand that. I mean almost all of our defensive lineman can't rush the passer well so why do they get so much PT? Shouldn't they not get PT until they know how to do everything which would include rush the passer? Who cares is we have a defensive lineman who can't stop the run but is a phenomenal pass rusher. Just play him on pass rush downs like we play the run stoppers on run downs. I understand that you are just saying what CNS has always said but it doesn't really make sense if you think about it. There are very few players who do everything well. Just like we don't really let RBs play if they don't know how to run block. Well just put them in to run the ball till they learn to run block instead of playing only one running back on a gimpy ankle against our biggest rivals. I know CNS has his system and it has produced great results, but things like this it's hard for the common fan to understand. Tim Williams was in on only a few plays but every play he was in it seemed like he was creating chaos in the backfield. We really need to see more of that..
