He's officially JK Scott da gawd to me. Nothing short of an amazing punter and he's just a freshman. Like one poster said, he could be 3 and done, he's that dang good. #JKForRayGuy

Agreed. I trust Bama the most when the football is in the hands of Scott and Cooper. By the way, Scott has been listed as our backup FG kicker as well. I like Adam Griffith and want him to succeed, but does anyone happen to know what JK Scott's FG range is? Just curious.

I wouldn't be suprissed to see JK Scott kick a field soon, I like Adam too but he has just not been performing well lately.

Good positive thread. While getting settled in at the Georgia Dome, I kept seeing this guy punt the ball in to the stands and punched my buddy and said good Lord what a punter!!

We've gotten pretty solid punting under Saban from mediocre leg talents. Scott launches those things like a mortar.

Another thing...we have the specialist components to be a real good special teams it just isn't working right now. Griffith can placekick...he started the season ridiculously strong but since that miss in the Florida blowout he just has some mental block. A few have been pretty decent kick just a bit off...others have been clear cases of overcorrections gone way wrong. Our returners can be dynamic, they just need to do their #1 job...secure the possession.

It's been amazing to see a freshman kicker do as well as Scott has. Let's hope this mid-season praise doesn't jinx him.

Over the cross bar and between the uprights is good enough for me. Our field goal kicking has gotten comical over the last few years, but punting and punt coverage seem to have always been a strong point. Although, I hope Scott is not too slow on his kicks. The line does have the time to hold their blocks a count longer and still get the hang time to cover the punt unless he booms one 60 yards in the air and those normally are not fielded anyways.

I hear you over the bar and between the uprights. I keep wanting st see a straight on kicker with the toe pulled up as long as we make one every once in a while. I remember Coach Bryant talking about those "side winders" LOL

You never want to have to punt... but it's nice to know you have a guy like this handling it when you do.

I'm old enough to have seen Ray Guy punt in Denny Stadium (not Bryant Denny then) when he played for Southern Miss. In the years since, I've often thought he was the only punter who could have left early for the NFL.

Until JK Scott.

Scott still has some stuff to work on. He seems a tad slow, though there hasn't been a true threat of a block yet. He's also not as consistent as he'd like to be.

Good news there is that as he matures, consistency should improve. Plus, his leg is such that even when he doesn't make fully solid contact, it's still a 40 yard punt.
