I listen to the "common sense" podcast and the dude came up with a good point:

there is no way to hold a politician accountable for coming through on the promises he makes. our only two options are to keep voting for our guy who lies to us OR vote for the other guy which we like even less than our guy. that is a rather poor choice to base a system upon.

as Carlin said, "This is the best we can do."

The older I get the less I think our form of government is viable and the more I think we are a strange accident to have lasted this long.
