They're as good as their record says they are. They are not the best team in college football history, but that's irrelevant. They are not unbeatable and that's irrelevant too.

I, for one, respect what MSU and Ole Miss have done this season. Hooray for them. It won't happen again for another generation, but let's give respect when it is due.

Ms. State is basically a clone of the Tebow led teams. They will continue to fight for four quarters and because of that I'm impressed. I do believe Bama has a complete team at home and will test every inch of their Defense. They can get confused in the secondary and we just so happen to have a once in a generation receiver who excels at beating man coverage. This will be the game where the other receivers have to play up to their potential and the O-line must finish blocking on every play. It will be a dog fight filled with physical play on both sides of the ball, but Bama wins.

The LSU score is deceiving. MSU really pushed LSU around in the home opener of an enlarged Death Valley. LSU should never have gotten close to being in that game late.
The thing is LSU sucks this year, they're the second worst SEC West team. Sure, Alabama's game against Arkansas was pretty bad, but LSU got blown out by Auburn and barely beat Florida. That game just doesn't look nearly as good as it did at the time.

LSU entered the fourth quarter down by 3 scores. They gained half of their yards in the fourth quarter due to being in "comeback mode." Not like that game was a back and forth contest.
I didn't say Miss. State was a bad team, they're one of the top teams in the SEC West, I just don't see how they are the best team in the SEC West, people for some reason want to underestimate Ole Miss and overestimate Miss. State and that confuses me. Another poster was like except for a few games.... let that sink in, Miss. State has held every team to below average scoring. Oh wow, that's impressive...

Ole Miss held every single opponent to a season low in scoring! My point is that Miss. State isn't as good as some people think, not that they're not good.

Why do we keep bringing this up. I mean seriously people have been asking this every week since they won in Death Valley. They are 6-0 with wins over lsu,ATM, and auburn and to be honest those games aren't as close as the scores indicate. If you take out our game against ATM then MSU has been just as impressive as us and better in some aspects of the major games they played. Yes you can put the Uab and USM games in there to say ahh that's just mittippii Tate or whatever funny joke name you got. I'm willing to say that they are very good and they are a legit team that can be undefeated or a one loss team when it's all said and done. I think we will win against them by one score, butI think some of you probably need to start looking at them a little closer because I wouldn't be shocked if the dogs win either.

I think msu is a solid team. they have a excellent offensive team, and their defense is strong with the front 7 on defense. I think right now bama can beat them. my concern is LSU, and what miss does. if miss wins out we lose out. miss and ga for the sec title. I don't believe the committee will allow the sec to have two teams in the playoffs. especially, losing archie off the committee. I think he is completely honest and may be the best on the committee, and I also believe he has dropped off because he does not to be in the position of his old team miss being in the discussion end of season. the sec is a marked this year by people like danny kanell that hates the sec, because they are stronger, would be a better matchup against any team in the country especially his beloved fla st.

Auburn killed lsu and MSU thrashed auburn. So what's your point about by bringing lsu into this. I personally think both missippi schools are great but I would take dak over Bo anyday of the week and twice on Sunday. MSU's one weakness is their roller coaster type games in which opponents make up ground late. Take the auburn game for example, if Mullen didn't fake the punt or call for a pass on the goaline they beat the boogs by 3 or 4 touchdowns and auburn would be outside the top ten. So yes they deserve a top 4 rating and when you compare schedule difficulty at this point they have ole sis beat.

I want Ole Miss to win out, win the SEC, and get into the playoff.
I want us to win out and get into the playoff.
I want to beat FSU to get to the championship game.
I don't really care who Ole Miss beats to get to the championship game.

And then we'll have two SEC teams in the championship game of the playoff that only came about because people wanted to make sure that two SEC teams never got into the championship game again.

I'm a big fan of irony. ;)
If your post was a Jeopardy answer...I'd ding in and give this question--"What is the Everly Brothers...Dream, Dream, Dream"! :)
You never know though.

Yes they have been impressive, but IMO even if they beat us they will not beat Ole Miss in Oxford. Now the real question is will auburn beat OM in Oxford.

I think auburn will beat ole miss. I think Gus has a veteran qb on the road and will have an emotion driven team that will test ole miss's run defense, but for some reason I still think we will beat auburn

If you read my original post, you can see what my point was because I stated it (which to reiterate is that Miss. State's defense isn't that great).

Anyway, as I also said I'm still not sure Miss. State is better than Auburn. People keep talking about the differences between final scores and the way the game actually went, well Auburn gave them the game in the first quarter, and Miss. State just hung on from there. The yards were similar, and if you replay that game I'm not sure Miss. State wins again. Once again, not saying Miss. State is a bad team, but they've done nothing to demonstrate to me what they're actually the best team in the SEC West.

Both Ole Miss and Alabama have a larger point differential between offense and defense. Miss. State is good, but you can put points on them.

I am not as impressed as when they beat Texags. But they did beat the barn at the barn. Interesting that CFB Dailey had Sheridan on. He said ! According to westgate sportsbook , Bama and FSU were favorites to win the NCAA, with Bama a slight favorite on a neutral field. He also said Bama is favored over everyone on their schedule. That , of course would include the Bulldogs. He also said Bama would be favored in a rematch with Ole Miss.

If you are talking about this season API played at Starkvegas. In case that changes anything. Or are you thinking Ms State is another version of the barn what with all the cowbells. :biggrin2:

I will agree. Ole Miss has better talent on defense. State has a better QB. Two turnovers on your first two plays will get you beat every time. Auburn gave that game away.
State hasn't really played a game on a national stage. Every big game they played a more interesting game was on at the same time. I have only seen bits and pieces of Bully games myself.

LSU entered the fourth quarter down by 3 scores. They gained half of their yards in the fourth quarter due to being in "comeback mode." Not like that game was a back and forth contest.

UAB had 3 touchdown passes of 75 yards or more. A busted coverage here or there in the second game of the season shouldn't be that surprising.

TAMU had over 170 yards in the fourth quarter. They were down 41-17, so they had to do whatever they could to get back in the game.
Playing Devil's advocate, TAMU was in the same situation against us and LSU was in the same situation against AU, and neither of them did much of anything in the 4th quarter.

I'm not saying MSU isn't good, but they haven't had play 4 quarters against a team that playing well. Another thing to consider is that LSU is the only road game against a team with a pulse. They've actually only played 2 teams away from Starkville, and one of them was South Alabama. They've got KY on the road, Arky and UT Martin at home, so when they roll into T-Town they still will have had a major road test. I think that is an advantage for us.

Their defense creates a lot of sacks and the rush defense is OK, but they are pretty average everywhere else. Florida and Ole Miss is better at stopping the run than MSU, and TAMU has more sacks on the season than they do, so I don't think they have anything we haven't seen on defense. There front 7 is being touted as best as the best in the SEC, but I'm not so sure of that. The numbers suggest otherwise. Don't get me wrong, they're pretty good, but I don't think they can shut us down.

Both Ole Miss and Miss St. are good...they are good recruited and experienced players, and that counts for alot....But, we shot ourselves on the foot against Ole Miss,..we don't turn the ball over and I know we win that game. Auburn also shot themselves in the foot against Miss St., that just goes to show you that if you do that to good experienced teams you will get beat......Anybody else out there still think I'm crazy for putting a thread on here earlier in the year about asking if anyone else was concerned with those two schools...Hm?..........Anyone remember that?...lol
