Eye test and stats tell me we faced the toughest defense of the season last night. But I'd like input from those more knowledgeable than myself as to the comparison to what we'll be facing in MSU.

i'd say ole miss had the best overall defense we will face. lsu has the best scheme to defend us IMO.. Miss State isnt as good in the secondary but their defensive front is very strong. NFL talent on the defensive line and at linebacker.

Mrs. State's pass defense is un-good, but they're talented in the front seven.

However, I kinda see that as bait. It's tempting to throw the football but that plays right into Clown's hands. He wants to play basketball on grass, and we don't do well when we play basketball on grass.

I would rather see Bama load up with two tight ends and a fullback, and hammer that vaunted front seven while Clown and Dak watch from the sidelines. Then hit OJ or Amari on play action.

Even so, LSU's defense >>> MSU's defense. Never disregard how good LSU's DC is.

The big thing is that it should open up our passing game. MSU's secondary is poor - they rank 123rd in pass defense (giving up over 300 yards per game, only Washington State is giving up more)

LSU is a quickly maturing D playing at home at night. MSU is playing in BDS. On a neutral field it's close, but I expect Bama to score on State.

IMO, the bigger question is whether or not State has faced a D of our caliber yet.

I think we will score points. Everyone else has. Can we slow down or stop their offense? I fully believe we can.

We would have been better off last night to have done more of that...

As do I. Hence the inquisition based on defensive comparison. Scheming against offenses? I'll take our staff each and every time.

Something else intersting, MSU may give up passing yards but the pass efficiency isn't quite so bad. The linked stats show MSU as 37 in pass efficiency defense and 16 in scoring defense (LSU ranked 1 and 5).

LSU defense as a unit looked like they knew what they were doing against Bama. Good coaching and good match ups?
