Change the out of conference schedule so that the gang of 5 only play one another. Add another bye week to give them a chance to recover.
This is playing with fire.
On one hand, a lot of us think other programs (like UAB) should dissolve or go down on a level. Yet, many people are saying that FBS teams shouldn't play FCS teams. So, what some of these programs are hearing is go down a level, where we will never, ever, ever play you. Or, for instance, we want to see the "power 5" be treated as the powerful entities they are, and the other 5 treated as lesser programs. Ok, that's how it should be, but when you then throw in "and never play them" you're just asking for a fight.
Finally, I've statistically put this out there a few times in a few ways, but the SEC has the most difficult schedule. If they have to play other power 5 schools, it will only lock in the imbalance. Let's assume for instance the Big 10 had to play their 3 OOC games against the SEC. So? They still get to play the Big 10 9 times and the SEC has to play the SEC 8 times. By making the SEC lose their leave way, the ability to soften things up a bit, you are only guaranteeing the disparity even further.
