. By Jess Nicholas TideFans.com Editor-In-Chief Nov. 23, 2014 Let’s just be honest about it: Western Carolina was paid to lose. No, Alabama didn’t have an under-the-table deal. No Division-IA school ever does when it hosts a Division-IAA school. Michigan certainly didn’t when then-D1AA Appalachian State upset the Wolverines in Ann Arbor and ultimately cost […]

Bama should help the in state schools and give UAB a shot, there certainly wouldn't have been any cheap shots thrown like we saw Saturday.
Disagree with the first statement, and there's no way to know whether the second statement is true or not.

There sure was a lot of but kissing in Mark Spiers post game. Why did Speirs feel the need to apologize for the injuries, football is football right?

Here's a thought, he knows his team is dirty. It's probably going to be a long time before WCU comes back to Bryant Denny.

Is there any connection between Speir and Malzahn or Auburn? It seemed pretty deliberate that 1) they were not going to give us a good look at a running based HUNH and 2) seemed hell bent on if we can't beat at least we.can do is hurt them. Bush league imo.

No more paydays from Bama to wcu. I really question the desire to schedule these FCS games.

Interesting angle. I'm not sure coaches would do what this implies. Now, meeting and exchanging stratagems is something that goes on a lot.

I think UAB has represented themselves well in past games against other SEC schools. They have always played a clean game IMO.
It's not Alabama's job to prop up any school that could take resources or interest away from Alabama or infringe on Alabama's recruiting in any way. This is a business before it's a game, and it's never a chamber of commerce feel-good project.

Auburn's program would not have reached its current status nearly as quickly without Alabama being involved in the rivalry. Alabama is in no rush to replicate that situation at UAB, as unlikely as it might seem to anyone that it could actually get that far. Alabama cut its regular series with Southern Miss in part to similar concerns.

In other words, UA-UAB will never happen in football. Nor should it.
