Not reversing my original position but I know what you mean. It's not unusual when on a cop's first encounter with a driver he/she automatically wants to assume they are under the influence of drugs/alcohol, carrying a weapon, etc. Iow, the cop views the driver as his/her enemy rather than a law-abiding citizen.
Unfortunately that type of attitude can backfire at the worst possible times.
