Interesting that the SEC and Big Ten dominate that January games in terms of number of games played. The PAC-12 has a winning percentage sort of close to the SEC's but has played in far fewer January games. The ACC and Big 12 are way back on both measures.

One interesting thing of note is that, across all of these categories, there is a fairly consistent delineation between the relative strength of the conferences.

1. Across the board, the SEC is clearly head and shoulders above the rest.
2. The disparity in the number of results in each category, especially the Overall records, among the conferences suggests that the SEC, Big Ten, and Big 12 are either deeper and/or more balanced (less top-heavy) than the ACC and Pac 12.
3. Across the board, the Big Ten and ACC are clearly the weakest - though the ACC's numbers could be somewhat misleading given their much smaller sample size. Regardless, the Big Ten is consistently bad in January Bowl Games.
4. There is a large drop-off from the strongest conference, the SEC, to the second strongest, the Pac 12. However, there is also a significant drop-off from second place to third, with the Big 12 barely rising above the two cellar dweller conferences. While the Pac 12 does have a smaller sample size than the Big 12, the difference is stark enough to show that the Pac 12 has been far superior to the Big 12 in January Bowl Games.

I don't think any of this will come as a major shock to many of us but it is interesting how definitive these numbers appear to be. As much as the Big 12 likes to crow about being deep and competitive from top to bottom and being one of the strongest conferences, the evidence here suggests that overall they are mediocre at best and there is little discernible difference between them, the Big Ten, and the ACC.
