How much if any impact do you expect last years performance such as it was by Bama in the Sugar Bowl
will have on its intensity in this years game against Ohio St ?

This might be the most illogical (and poorly worded) question I've read on here..

I don't think it will affect it at all. The motivation of playing for all the marbles is what will have the biggest impact, imho. Anything less than that in the post-season seems to make us struggle (outside of that massacre of MSU north..) The curse of high expectations...great problem to have....

That game was the first game most of the players had ever played in without national title implications. Not surprising thru were a little flat.

Bama still outgained OU and had the ball with a chance to tie the game on the last possession.

I'd say about as much as the '08 performance impacted our performance in the '09 SEC championship game against Florida.

Coach referred to it as a consolation game. Clearly it wasn't our best game of 2013 while OU celebrated like they'd won The Super Bowl.

No bearing on how we play on Jan. 1.

Last year's game was a game weshould've won. Our players acted like they didn't want to be there, and it hurt us. Never again, this team will not let that happen this year. We should never compare our teams to the previous seasons, because this is new team, new season, new playoff. That's why, i was puzzled at this thread... why use last year as a motivation? We have plenty to be motivated about: Blake Sims, Our pass defense, etc.

I still have a bad taste in my mouth over that game. When you play a team with the history like OU has and a chance to tie the all time series record with them, motivation should not be an issue. That being said, I think that game will have zero impact on this yrs sugar bowl.

It could help motivate in one way. After the Sugar Bowl last year OU coach Bob Stoops started bashing the SEC, saying it was an overrated conference. So it would be sweet to come back this year and win the championship to shut him up. BTW, where's the Big 12 representative Bob?

I went to the game. I still haven't watched a replay of the game. The one time I saw it live in person was enough. I got four tickets and we screamed so hard and loud that I think even to this day I have a different voice than I had before that game. I can't explain the disgust and heart break I felt walking out of the superdome in that mass of people. Bourbon street was weak, casino was depressing. Just an overall bad night. Well I know as bad as I felt those players, boy, and those coaches they are sick to their stomachs. It showed when their backs were up against the wall when we played Auburn. Nobody hates losing more than Nick Saban, that's why he's so good at those revenge games. This years Sugar Bowl could certainly be considered a revenge game for coach Saban, and thus why I think this thread is appropriate. The question was asked in a poor context though.
