Re: WVU QB Clint Trickett quits football

That is tough for Clint and a big break for TAMU in the bowl game. I have no doubt that Trickett will find in legs quickly in the coaching profession and expect we will be hearing from him in the next few years. All the best of luck to Clint.

I was going to say something snarky, but read that he had five concussions in 14 months. God bless him. That is terrible. Best of luck to him in coaching.

That is terrible. I thought he may have a shot at a pro career.

David Ash did the same thing at Utex. I actually got to meet him on a dove hunting outing this fall. Very nice young man. Its a shame to see them leave the game, but I can't blame them after all the concussions they have suffered.

Trickett was nothing short of a warrior on the field of play.

Can't blame him for making this tough decision....very smart move.

Best of luck to him going forward.

I've modified the title slightly, since it's clear that his quitting was forced on him with his failure to gain clearance to play...

That's really a shame that the young man will miss his bowl game. One game verses forever is a risk no one should take. Good luck to him and I hope he has success as a coach or any other endeavor.

Really disheartening news. Sad to see such a talented and tough competitor have to walk away at such a significant point in his career. Good luck to him and I truly hope he has a long and successful coaching career.

Great decision on his part. There are too many sad stories nowadays about the after effects of concussions.

I'm afraid his future is already cast in stone...
I hate it, but I'm afraid you're right.

I'm not sure the general public yet incorporates the consequences of multiple concussions. If he 'fesses up to five this year, I'm betting the true number over his career is well into double digits.

God bless him. He's going to need it,
