I kind of had a feeling that we were going to lose when I got notice from Tide Pride that I was getting my requested allotment of NCG tix for once. And I could actually fit it into my schedule.

I think we had a very good year as far as player growth and development that translated into a trip to the playoffs and us being one of the best of 4 teams in the country. At the beginning of the season I thought we were an 8 win team at best, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The playoff system will now force us as fans to change our meaning of success.

Im not saying we will go 8-5 like AU, but we have a LOT of big question marks. Who will play in the secondary? Who will be RT/RG/LG? We have to hope the guys we have seen off and on pan out. I hope they do.

The problem we have is that when we have one unit that's loaded and has everyone coming back there's two more with question marks.
Without looking at a preseason sports magazine I would say arky,UGA, and auburn are our biggest games of concern. I think it is a realistic possibility that we can win the sec but a natty might be too much to ask. I think our best shot will be in 16 or 17 if saban stays and figures out how to slow down the passing mobile qbs

The rest of the teams we play aren't populated with Dre Kirkpatricks, either.

That's kinda the point. I've not looked at the numbers, but I'm willing to bet that, based on recruiting rankings, almost every team in the country would trade their secondary for ours.
I can't really agree on that, Brad. The only one I think most would swap for would be Collins. C. Jones is a retread receiver and shortish. Eddie Jackson is just off an ACL repair in the spring. Jarrick was also out with a severe injury. The others are really just utility people. We had two fabulous frosh signed and it appears that they just couldn't pick up the insanely complex system quickly enough to help. Saban's scheme has been so successful for so long, I'm not willing to just drop it completely. However, I agree that he should be giving a long hard look at it in the offseason. If it takes Dre, KJ, etc., to run, then perhaps it just has to be simplified. I know something has to be done about the soft spot in the middle. Tonight, that flaw really killed us. Our injuries tonight were devastating also. I've got to hand it to CUM. That last TD came right through the spot RR had just vacated with his concussion. Well, it was a good run and they did better, especially with career-long backup playing QB, than I ever thought they would...

I'd actually bet that other teams have more "stars" at corner. I might be wrong. But we haven't seemed to sign a ton of corners, and the ones we have signed haven't been elite guys except for Brown and Humphrey.
Our corners this year included two converted WRs (Cyrus Jones and Bradley Sylve). Another was a true sophomore and was rated - I believe - "only" 3 stars (Eddie Jackson). But we don't really have a group of elite CB recruits on our sidelines except Brown and Humphrey. Maybe Maurice Smith.
Fault here seems to be more from a recruiting standpoint than a coaching standpoint. We haven't recruited who we need to for as long as we need to. Having said that, I really expected more from the two true freshmen.

Agree 100%. But I'll also say that the experts consider Bama the most talented team in the nation, by a pretty fair margin. To those that say this team overachieved, I'll respectfully disagree. The most talented team in the nation never overachieves.

I expect national championships. Nothing less. Ever.
We were one of the final four. we had a team we can all be proud of. we didn't play well on the big stage and that stings. But how about a little perspective. We could have lost three or four other games. Experts? Trust what you and the rest of us saw all year.

if you truly think this year was a failure, your refund is in the mail.

I agree, but I'm baffled why we continue to struggle with our dbs...CNS has put plenty of them in the NFL.

Seems like they'd be lining up to play for him.

They def exploited us on that play. I'm not sure if Ragland would have made the play or not but Reuben rushed hard and got "reubened" by their WR.

1. It seems as if every star we had was injured at some point tonight. If we had won, I dont think I would have liked our chances in the Champ game.
2. I remember seeing a stat that said we were the youngest team in the SEC this yr. It is pretty impressive to get as far as we did being that young.
3. We had a negative turnover ratio until recently (still may be negative after tonight). So again it is special that we got this far with that stat.
4. I have never in my life remembered so many 40+yd passes completed against us in one season. It is a problem.
5. We need a Madden telestrater moment for tracking the flight path of the headset that Urban threw on the punt call. UM may need shoulder surgery after such an epic launch.
