You have to be a liberal (sorry CA -- I know I know I'm not supposed to insert politics here)..... (heavy sigh!)well if this was true then alabama shouldnt have played for the natty in 2011 or 2012 because we played two really bad tennessee teams, a mediocre vanderbilt, and a deflated mizzou team, but yet the perception was the west was a very hard sub division to navigate unblemished. So did the east hold us back????? No people crowed and said under their breath the SEC is still king ; not that they were top heavy. Where the top heavy arguement came was when Bob Stoops was proven right by beating us in the Sugar Bowl and when Winston beat the boogs. No one remebers that Mizzou thrashed Okie Lite in the Cotten Bowl everyone remembers Bob Stoops and Jamies Winston bringing down the SEC. Same thing this year no one remembers UT beating Iowa or Mizzou beating Minnesota (the same team that nearly beat OHIO State), but everyone remembers Urban and Barry Alverez proving the SEC is overrated. The east is not giving the perception that the SEC is overrated it is the West's inability to win marquee bowl games against the Big 12 and the Big 10. So Bama and Auburn are not doing their part, they arent winning in big time bowl games. So dont be suprised if next year the committee keeps the SEC at bay by only allowing the SEC one team in on the final week of the season.
As far as your arguement about preseason rankings.... I really dont see the point of bringing that up because it proves nothing until the CFP comes out. I can guarentee OSU will be number 1 though FWIW.
The East is part of the SEC, they have (obviously) not done their part to uphold the reputation of the SEC, the West definitely has - especially Bama and Auburn.....but.....
OK you win....
