During this past fall multiple media members noted that of the quarterbacks only Coker, Sims & Alex Morris had the arm strength to push the ball down field. This was not an idle comment on a message board but multiple observations from media members. Now Cornwell was recovering from a major knee injury and it may have held him back so this spring might be different. Cornwell also didn't play much in high school thanks to external factors beyond his control. Him being rated so highly with little playing time is certainly a feather in his cap.Huh? Cornwell has a rocket arm; maybe Coker's is as strong or marginally stronger, but no one else is coming close. And Barnett is lots of things, but polished isn't one of them.
Bateman made a move last fall but fell behind Alec Morris yet again who is dug in like a tick on a houd dog. Nobody expected anything from Morris but right now he's got a pretty good shot at playing. He was a virtual unknown in high school having only showed real promise in his senior year. The staff liked him in their football camp though and offered.
We just need to see a more mature and fully healed Cornwell to know if this guy has a shot or not.
