The sophomore returns after earning All-SEC Freshman honors last season

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Sophomore relief pitcher Thomas Burrows was named by to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award watch list, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
Burrows returns for his second season with the Tide after a standout freshman campaign. The left-hander finished 2014 with 11 saves and a 2.15 ERA (9 ER/37.2 IP), including 34 strikeouts and a .174 average against. He finished at 4-2 overall across a team-high 24 relief appearances. For his efforts, Burrows was named a Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA Freshman All-American, while also claiming SEC All-Freshman Team honors.
Burrows and the Tide will kick off the 2015 season this Friday, Feb. 13, as the team hosts the University of Maryland Eastern Shore for a weekend series. First pitch of Friday's contest will be at 6:35 p.m. CT, with Saturday and Sunday scheduled to start at 2:05 p.m. and 1:05 p.m., respectively.
