Alasippi- I had this conversation with a guy at the State High school finals in Birmingham last year. Watched Mountain Brook win the 6A title with a bunch of white guys none of which were going to pay D1 ball anywhere. He was younger than me and disagreed with my assessment of the talent level. I just had to laugh.
Can only hope you laughed with great conviction - Newton had NC-caliber homegrown talent early on, and and wasn't terribly far from succeeding in winning one or two of them. Beating UNC with four first-round picks by a ton, then losing by a few points to Knight and Indiana with five or six No. 1's a week later in their undefeated NC season was probably the pinnacle for 'Bama basketball - for
