To be fair, two-hundredths of a second is essentially the same speed. But yeah, on paper he's faster.Faster than Coates, which is surprising because all I've heard the past few years is how fast Coates is.

Wow!Wow Kevin White just ran a 4.35. He is 6 ft 3 inches tall and weighs 215. That's a really good time for him.
This could be great news as the Raiders historically tend to like very fast receivers.Wow Kevin White (WR for West Virginia) just ran a 4.35. He is 6 ft 3 inches tall and weighs 215. That's a really good time for him.
That number by CJ isn't overly surprising to me. He always seemed quicker than he was fast. More lateral quickness than straight line speed. Here's what bugging me.. I know White, Jones haven't ran second time... but look at their number:
D.White 4.46
A. Cooper 4.43
B. Sims 4.58
C. Jones 4.63
I'm suprised at CJ though. I hope he improves this number at pro day.
Indeed. I'm hoping that a team trades up to take Coop or that he at least goes to a well run organization..This could be great news as the Raiders historically tend to like very fast receivers.
Not trying to compare CJ to Jerry Rice, but they said Rice was slow too. That number by CJ isn't overly surprising to me. He always seemed quicker than he was fast. More lateral quickness than straight line speed.
Yea the 40 yard dash metric isn't all it's made out to be. It helps to be faster than the guy you are going against but so does technique, skill, size, etc.Not trying to compare CJ to Jerry Rice, but they said Rice was slow too.
they do tend to draft guys based on 40 time alone. they might be the only team that does this. how on Earth Darius Heyward-Bey could ever be a first round guy is still baffling. This could be great news as the Raiders historically tend to like very fast receivers.
Yep. Another thing to consider is most of those guys in front of Coop (Except White) are under 6 ft tall and considerably lighter. Coop has very good times for his size/weight.When a 4.42 makes you the 8th fastest... quick field...
Just think Sylve lost his corner job covering this guy. I think the coaches did not know how good White was going in to that game. Crazy part he was always in great position.
Petty has looked good so far and I was just thinking the same thing about him.Sims just doesn't look like an NFL quarterback to me. I love him to death, and I think he did a great job for us, but his throws don't seem to have NFL zip to them. Bryce Petty honestly looks like the most talented pure passer on the field today. He's confident and he's got a good arm. He's not the most athletic quarterback in the draft, but he looks the most nfl ready of any of them to me
I've actually been really impressed so far. Mariota established himself early on as the best athlete of the quarterbacks, which it shocked me that he was virtually a full step faster than Marshall and Sims. Plus he has thrown with nice touch all over the field.Petty has looked good so far and I was just thinking the same thing about him.
No one has really looked bad though
yeah I thought Sims would have the best 40 timeI've actually been really impressed so far. Even Winston has looked better than I expected. His timing and touch have been spot on. He looks fit and focused, but still reasonably loose.
Looking at this qb class, I don't see a single one with elite potential. However, I see a few that could be solid starters for a quite few years.
