You cannot possibly be this obtuse, can you? I mean, really, like seriously. C'mon. You have to be just rattling cages.
Well, back in the days of Saint Abraham of Springfield, after the publication of the lengthy casualty lists for the bloodbaths of Shiloh, the Seven Days and Second Manassa's in 1862, if you went to the courthouse steps (or the local Democrat party meeting) and suggested to young men that it would probably not be a good idea to enlist in the army just then, you would be arrested without charges and held in prison for a couple of months. There was a curious spike in these outbreaks of Lincolnian "government of the people, by the people, for the people" conveniently just before election time.
Maybe we could bring back that wonderful practice of arresting outspoken Democrats just before election time and holding them for a few months. It might work wonders for the republic.
