MOBILE, Ala. - The Alabama pitching staff combined for a three-hit, 3-0 shutout win over Lipscomb on Sunday afternoon inside Hank Aaron Stadium. The victory clinched the series for Alabama and moves the team to 9-6 on the season.

"The pitching staff was solid today," said Alabama head coach Mitch Gaspard. "Geoffrey (Bramblett) came out and gave us a good start. (Jake) Hubbard did a nice job in relief, and then Thomas (Burrows) came in to shut it down. From a pitching standpoint, I was pleased with the effort; I thought all three guys did a nice job."

Alabama starter Geoffrey Bramblett began the solid pitching day for the Tide, tossing 6.0 IP and allowing just one hit while striking out five for his team-leading third win of the season. The righty maintained a no-hitter through his first 5.2 innings of work before giving up a single to Lipscomb's third hitter of the sixth inning. He then proceeded to hit the next batter, but maintained composure and caught the next Bison looking for a backwards K.

Jake Hubbard entered the game in the seventh to relieve Bramblett and would go on to toss 2.0 innings, allowing just one hit while striking out one batter. Thomas Burrows entered in the ninth and allowed one hit, but got a game-ending double play to secure the victory for the Crimson Tide and earn his second save of the season.

Alabama would get all of its runs early, scoring two in the second and one in the fourth inning. The Crimson Tide began the bottom of the second with a leadoff single from Kyle Overstreet, and then two of the next three batters were hit by a pitch to load the bases. With the bags juiced and one out, Taylor Poe flew out on a sacrifice to right to take the zero off the board for UA. In the next at-bat, Riley Colburn stayed hot and singled to center to score Overstreet and set the Tide ahead, 2-0 after two innings of play.

A couple innings later, Alabama would add one more on a two-out single from Colburn. The center fielder had runners on first and second coming to the plate and delivered with a base knock to set UA ahead by a score of 3-0. Colburn made his first career start in center field and would lead the Crimson Tide offense, finishing 2-for-4 with two of Alabama's three RBI. Chance Vincent also contributed two hits, finishing the day 2-for-2 with a walk and a hit by pitch.

"I think this was a really good weekend for Riley Colburn," Gaspard said of his center fielder. "He hasn't played much for us, but he gave us a spark in all three games and we liked that. He provided us with the big two-out hits today to help get the runs we needed for the win."

Following this afternoon's contest, Alabama will host Alabama A&M for a Tuesday doubleheader in the Tide's final tune-up before conference play. The Crimson Tide will then head to Starkville on Friday to face off with the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Alabama's first SEC action of the season.
