Bradley Sylve's opportunity came during the second half against Auburn Nov. 29.

Starting cornerback Eddie Jackson had surrendered multiple deep completions to wide receivers Sammie Coates and D'haquille Williams. Then-freshman Tony Brown struggled after briefly replacing Jackson.

Those collective issues contributed to Auburn taking a 33-21 lead early in the third quarter of last year's Iron Bowl and led to the Tide turning to Sylve, a Week One starter at cornerback who had seen minimal action in the previous 10 games after being beaten for several big plays by West Virginia wide receiver Kevin White during Alabama's season-opening win over the Mountaineers.

Sylve looked bad in that first start but nobody knew at the time he was going to face what is hands down considered the best receiver in college last year. It really didn't matter who we lined up against White he was going to abuse them.
He didn't go against Amari Cooper, so he didn't go against the best WR in college football last year.

I think Amari Cooper is a better WR than White; White seems to have got the eye of the scouts which is great for Amari as it looks like White may be headed to the Raiders, the team that ruins all good/great prospects.

...but your point is well taken and correct. White is/was a beast. He made lots of folks look bad this past year and he will make lots of money in the NFL. There's no real shame in getting beaten by him a time or two.

Yep his point was taken, but to say he was "hands down" the best WR in college is kind of wacky considering what Amari Cooper did against SEC defenses.
