1. Better promotion of the program. This is an easy one b/c Avery Johnson has the personality for it and is a former ESPN employee.

3. Recruiting style. Coach Grant didn't like to pressure kids to commit. That wasn't his personality. Some kids took that to mean we weren't really interested. We recruited a lot of talented kids. The problem is we always finished second. I'm sure Avery Johnson's personality will get us over the hump with those kids.
I don't know where the narrative Grant didn't attend AAU events or recruit AAU kids comes from. That's just flat out incorrect. He got any player he wanted from the Alabama Challenge (Cooper, Levi, Taylor, and all 3 kids who signed in this class). What we didn't do was handout prepaid debit cards in the bathrooms of those AAU events. Prepaid debit cards are the new bags of money. They are completely untraceable. There are really only a few ways we can get more involved with AAU. One is to start handing out the prepaid debit cards. We can cultivate our own World Wise Wes or Pump Brothers. The last is we can hire an assistant from a top AAU team. Those are the only AAU games Coach Grant didn't play.
