The Crimson Tide collected six total hits on the day

April 11, 2015

Box Score

HOOVER, AL - Alabama baseball fell to Georgia, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon inside the Hoover Met. With the loss, the Crimson Tide moves to 17-16 overall and 5-9 in conference play.

"Today was disappointing all the way around after last night's win," said Alabama head coach Mitch Gaspard. "They beat us in every area today, and I thought their starting pitcher did a good job keeping us off balance for the seven innings he was out there."

Alabama recorded six hits on the afternoon, its lowest total since the March 20 contest against Texas A&M when the Tide collected five knocks. Georgia starter Ryan Lawlor limited the Crimson Tide, tossing 7.0 innings and allowing one earned run on four hits while adding 11 punchouts to claim the victory for the Bulldogs.

Georgia kicked off the scoring this evening, tallying three runs in the top of the third off of two hits and an error. Alabama was able to weather the storm, stranding three Bulldogs to limit the damage.

In the bottom half of the third, the Crimson Tide was able to add one run. Chance Vincent led off the inning with a line drive off the third baseman's mitt that rolled into shallow left field to allow the leadoff man to move to second on the play. With two down and Vincent still on second, Georgie Salem singled to right field to score one and narrow the gap at 3-1.

The Tide would score no more runs on the evening, as Georgia would put together a three-run sixth and then score single tallies in the seventh and eighth innings to move the score to 8-1, the eventual final.

Georgie Salem led the Crimson Tide in hitting with two base-knocks on the afternoon and the team's lone RBI of the game. Kyle Overstreet recorded one hit on the day to extend his streak of reaching base safely to 22 games.

"As bad as today was, you can come back and get the series tomorrow to feel good moving into next week. We just have to regroup and do the little things better in Sunday's game."

Alabama and Georgia will square off to decide the series tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. with the game airing on SECN+. The Crimson Tide sends sophomore right-hander Geoffrey Bramblett to the mound while the Bulldogs counter with senior lefty Jared Walsh.
