Democrat prosecutor goes after supporters of Gov. Walker.
Left-wing fascism in Wisconsin.

What was perhaps most troubling was this. The victims were ordered to remain silent.
Don’t call your lawyer. Don’t tell anyone about this raid. Not even your mother, your father, or your closest friends. The entire neighborhood could see the police around their house, but they had to remain silent.
The prosecutor (who should probably be impeached and disbarred for this abuse) was looking for illegal cooperation between the Walker campaign and unaffiliated Wisconsin Club for Growth.

If Limbaugh and Trump are against it.........

The courts have allowed the John Doe investigation to continue,

3 Walker cronies have been indicted and arrested. I can't find much info about the raids. Help please.

A partisan Democrat prosecutor wanted to see if there was any illegal coordination between the Wisconsin Club for Growth and the Walker campaign.
A Federal judge "wounded" that probe.
My understanding is that when a group buys air time saying, "Call your Representative/Senator/Governor and tell him to support/oppose" whatever policy the group favors or disapproves of, it is not a coordinated campaign. If the same group says, "Vote for (or against) Scott Walker (or his opponent)," that is illegal coordination under current campaign finance law. The partisan Democrat was looking for illegal coordination.

As for the details of the raids, see the original link. It appears the police were heavy-handed in the raid on houses of the subjects, confiscating children's cell phones, for example

Telling the subject of a search warrant that he or she is not allowed to call an attorney or even tell anyone else what was going on is, frankly, chilling.

It just seems like this kind of thing always comes from the left here lately. I am just going on what I have read. It might be more but I haven't seen it or read it.

"Wonder why this is coming to the fore front now?"

I heard about some of these things happening a couple of years ago but they were never reported in the main stream media. They were discussed on conservative sites, I don't remember where or have links. I guess the extremes the country has experienced have changed the desires of some of those those reporting. Politics is a big game to those who play it, they don't care about us little people. This, added to the use of IRS coercion and officials acting above the law, are not what we want from the power structure. We should be concerned that this sort of thing can happen in our country. If they are not checked and stopped they can grow and be used to control all of us.

I remember having a conversation with an HP rep about 5 years ago who was married to an IRS agent who carried a badge and a gun. It was my understanding that when this man showed up at your house, it was going to be a really bad day for the non paying taxpayer. Anyways, during our conversation (among about 4 other people) she told us that her husband said that it was always best to deal directly with the IRS and leave a lawyer out of the equation. All of us looked at one another, not saying a word, till I couldn't help myself. I told her that if the government came after me i should not have legal representation and that she as a black woman and her husband as a black man believed that line of thinking. The look on her face was priceless.

As far as the Wisconsin situation, I heard about this a couple of years after the recall but the details were not completely out there. I remember hearing about this DEM DA from Milwaukee going on a witch hunt and heard there were some searches but did not realize they were done in the middle of the night SWAT team invasion style and the police ordered the individuals to keep quiet. I would have been on the phone with a lawyer while they were in my house and would have told the cop that if they did not like it, they could arrest me but to not forget to read me my Miranda rights. Especially the part about having the right to an attorney.

truly disgusting and disturbing

reminds me of the Nixon administration

the judges, prosecutors and police chiefs who agreed to perform the raids should be fired immediately and they should be blocked from their Government pension which should be paid out to the families in the raids. Anyone convicted under evidence gained in these raids should be freed. I wouldn't mind seeing several of them prosecuted for abuse of power as well

I had not heard of John Doe's prior, and I can understand the need for them, but this sort of political abuse can not be tolerated. Even if that means throwing the tool away.

The IRS HATES when you show up with a tax lawyer.

Which is exactly why you better have one and let him/her do the talking.

I had a friend who showed up to a meeting with one, and the agent had a hissy fit. He had a this $32,000 bill to hit her with.

She wound up paying $2400 on the spot (plus the attorney fee, which didn't come anywhere close to $30K).

It must have been convenient that the lawyers hourly rate was 28,600$ :)

The 1st year I ever received a 1099 I didn't pay my taxes. I wont go into detail about all the circumstances, very long. The company I was working for went under.

It's been over 9 years and they still say I owe over 60,000.00 dollars. (about 3 times what I made)

Many letters and calls over the years, I was finally told by an IRS rep I was wasting their time. (I don't believe him.)

A good tax attorney cost more than I want, but one day......

It's not over.....

Back on topic.

If they don't allow you an attorney, especially by force or intimidation, that should be a strong indicator that is exactly what you need.

My mom and dad paid their taxes and had the papers to prove it but the IRS said they hadn't and made them pay again anyway. I want the IRS completely dismantled by Congress. Considering I never thought I'd see gay marriage or legalization of marijuana, I'll hold out hope against hope.

As for why this didn't come out before - it did in small drips, mainly because the victims were threatened under color of law. I hope the lid blows off and those responsible go to prison and lose all their worldly possessions. That will be the only way this crap stops.

If the "John Doe" investigation was a witch hunt , they found some witches.

Russell is one of five indicted after a secret John Doe probe that may or may not still be going on. Another former Walker aide, Kelly Rindfleisch, cut a plea deal in which she admitted to one count of misconduct in office. Another aide, Darlene Wink, still faces sentencing for campaigning on taxpayer time, and former Walker appointee Kevin Kavanaugh will be sentenced in January for his part in embezzling funds from a veterans group. Gov. Walker himself hasn’t been charged with any wrongdoing.

All five mentioned have pleaded or been found guilty. Another has been convicted of pornography.

Stealing from a veterans group. Lowlifes.

I will almost guarantee that if I went through every single file, paper, computer search history, itemized bank statement, and every other segment of your life with a general search warrant I could find something on you and anyone else however true, false, trivial, or contrived. That is the danger of general warrants. And why they are unconstitutional - as in, literally barred by the constitution itself.
