The Crimson Tide was shut out for the third time this season

May 2, 2015

HOOVER, AL -
Alabama baseball was blanked by 23rd-ranked Arkansas in the series finale, 4-0. With the loss, the Crimson Tide falls to 23-24 overall and 8-16 in SEC play.

Alabama starter Geoffrey Bramblett tossed another quality start, going 7.0 innings and allowing three runs on six hits to keep the Tide in striking distance all game. The sophomore also collected six strikeouts across his 106 pitches. Bramblett has now gone 7.0 innings in five of his eight conference starts and has not allowed more than four runs in seven of his SEC outings.

"Geoffrey did what Geoffrey does: He gave us an opportunity to win," said Alabama head coach Mitch Gaspard. "Sunday is the day you have to score some runs if you're going to win. It seems like he's had the same outing each time -- give you about seven good innings, allow a couple runs -- but when you get that kind of start you have to do your job on the offensive end."

Arkansas' starter Keaton McKinney countered Bramblett's solid outing, tossing a complete game to hand Alabama its first complete game shutout loss since May 10, 2014, when LSU starter Aaron Nola accomplished the same feat.

The Razorbacks put together the game's first run in the top of the third, using two walks and then a single to right-center to take the 1-0 lead. Arkansas would use a leadoff home run in the sixth to add one more and move the lead to 2-0.

Arkansas added its third run of the game in the eighth, using a double and a wild pitch to put the runner at third and then scoring on a sacrifice fly in the next at-bat. The Hogs would round out the scoring in the ninth, using the team's second solo home run of the afternoon to go ahead 4-0.

Alabama will close out its six game homestand this Tuesday with a doubleheader against Alabama A&M. The game was originally scheduled for March 10, but was moved due to rain. The Crimson Tide owns the all-time series with A&M, 3-0, after sweeping the Bulldogs from March 17-18, 2009, in the lone meeting between the two in-state squads.
