These are the main concerns
Passing touchdowns allowed by Alabama defense: 14
2014 over/under: 9.5
2014 actual: 19
Numbers of note: Those 19 scoring aerials surrendered by the UA defense last season were the second most allowed by a Saban-coached unit. Only his first Alabama team gave up more. While I like the potential of the 2015 secondary and think noticeable improvement is on the way, like most everyone else, I'm going to need to see it before I will believe it.
Points per game allowed by Alabama: 14
2014 over/under: 11.5
2014 actual: 18.4
Numbers of note: Last season saw a 4.5-point jump over 2013, when opponents averaged 13.9 points per game. A lot of that had to do with big plays given up by the Alabama pass defense, especially on conversion downs. Some of it, however, also had to do with UA committing six more turnovers a season ago than it did in 2013. Clean up those two areas and improvement shouldn't be all that difficult to come by.
But I preseaon nominate Scott for the team's MVP because of this
Net punting average for Alabama: 44.8
2014 over/underl: 36.2
2014 actual: 44.7
Numbers of note: Do you realize how difficult it is to net 44.7 yards per punt? Put it this way, Cody Mandell averaged a robust 42.4 as a senior in 2013. Along comes JK Scott, who proceeded to surpass Mandell's impressive output by a full two yards as a true freshman. Could Scott fall victim to a sophomore slump? I wouldn't bet on it.
