I disagree completely. That may have been Saban's greatest coaching job. If I remember correctly, we didn't have any players drafted that year. Five starters were suspended right before Tennessee, including o line guys. We had no dependable running game or dependable wide receivers. It's a miracle we went to a bowl.
I didn't say Saban did a bad job. In fact, I was disagreeing with the poster that called them an average team. I contend that Saban lost the team after the LSU game. The results bear that out.

You should try living in Georgia with all these UGA fans. You will think every other fanbase is the classiest bunch ever by comparison.
I have lived both. We were living in Orlando in 2007 and went to the F$U game. When we left I told my wife that we would never attend another F$U game.

In 1990, we were living in Tucker and went to the UGA game. When we left I didn't have to tell her that we would never attend another game in Sanford stadium. As we were leaving she was narrowly missed by a whiskey bottle dropped from the top of the upper deck outside the stadium. Would have killed her if she had been hit.

Edit: A big heavy Jack Daniels whiskey bottle. Sounded as if a bomb went off when it hit the concrete.

2007 alabama team was a typical mike Shula team that was coached by nick saban. Our most talented players were dJ hall, brown, arenas, simieon,Andre, and rolando. That is not a lot of talent when you consider rolando was a freshmen and javy was a specialist. CNS won us 3 close games in which Shula would've lost with that same team. We would've probably been 3-9 with Shula because I don't think he would've been cool and collective against Arkansas, would've spotted that the ole miss receiver was out of bounds with under a minute to play, and wouldn't been aggressive enough to beat fulmer. You keep referencing the lsu game in your argument, but in truth we should've never been in position to win.
Their talent was leagues better than ours and the reason we were in it was mostly because les miles was playing loosy goosey against us. Had he ran Hester like he did in the first we probably lose that game by 17 even with us playing at our best. We only gained 254 yards against Bo pelini. The most telling stat is lsu's 3 turnovers. The reason that game feels the way that it does is because of caddell call, but that never happens if lsu plays smart. Les miles has played us better when we are expected to win.

If there is any argument it is coming from others who do not comprehend what I am saying. I have said nothing about winning or losing the LSU game. My point is that I believe Saban lost the team after the LSU game.

That was inevitable with the amount of egos, but that doesnt mean we were a better than average team that year is my point. If you really look at it we beat teams we were suppose to beat, the only real upset we sprang was vs arkansas. UGA,FSU,LSU, and Auburn were all losses that we had coming. That MSU team beat us the year before in T-town so basically same teams with the same result. La Monroe is the only loss we had that we shoudntve lost. So Ill give you 7-5 regular season. I think many realistically saw 6-6 or 7-5 for 2007 because of huge egos and lack of talent, and if you swap the results for Arkansas and La Monroe you have the same result without an embarrasing loss to a lower FBS team.

As I recall, more than a few bottles came out of the student section in 2007 following Georgia's winning touchdown.

Again making my point. Whatever he was selling to make them overachieve against Arkansas they were no longer buying in underachieving against LA Mon.

Winning FG came just before we reached the car. We got up to leave with 10 minutes left with all the UGA fans who were leaving because Bama was ahead 16-6. They were leaving because they thought UGA was going to lose. I was leaving because I knew they were going to win. With 11:30 left UGA punted to Bama and Bama ran a grand total of one minute and a half off the clock with 7 plays  before punting back to UGA at the 10 minute mark. At that point I told my wife, "let's get out of here, you can't win playing like that." It was 16-14 when we reached the lower level. It was 16-17 just before we reached the car.

The Arkansas game was more or less an upset, and upsets happen all the time in college football. That doesnt mean we were overall a better team than them, we were just a better team that night. Your original arguement was that you were disagreeing with a poster that we werent just an average team, and we lost our will after the LSU game. Well we did lose a step after the LSU game, but the problem is there is no guarentee that we beat Moo State. Miss St had an off week before playing us and the game prior they just upset #14 Kentucky and were looking for bowl eligibility with us. Miss state had all the momentum going into that game and were a better than average team. I can give you La Monroe and say we shouldve been 7-5, but you could easily swap La Monroe and Arkansas. 6 wins is the average on the field win total for shula teams so I would say 2007 was an average team. In 08 it was a wash of CNS and CMS players so it was a way different narrative.

I think we're talking about different games. 2007, as I recall, ended in OT on Stafford's pass to the back of our end zone and a celebratory Dawg scrum. A TYOB (Throw your own bottle) ensued from our student section.

They also tore down flags and signs all through Bryant Denny I think that was 2007

That's not the 2007 UGA game. Entering the fourth quarter, UGA led 17-10 and went up 20-10 with just over 12 minutes left in the game.

Yep. I need to read more carefully. Since he was replying to my experience in 1990, that was where my mind was. Senior moment.

Wasn't the UL-M game one of those we had 5/6 starters suspended because of the textbook boondoggle?

Couldn't that have something to do with several losses that season?
