Adam Morgan made his major-league debut on Sunday afternoon

June 22, 2015

TUSCALOOSA, AL -
Former Alabama baseball standout Adam Morgan made his Major League Baseball debut on Sunday, making him the fifth former Tide player to see action this season at baseball's highest level. Morgan joins Alex Avila, Tommy Hunter, Jimmy Nelson and David Robertson as the five former Crimson Tide standouts currently on an MLB roster.

Morgan received the call up to Philadelphia on Sunday and made the start for the Phillies that same day, earning the win in his major-league debut against the St. Louis Cardinals. He tossed 5.2 innings of one-run baseball, allowing six hits and walking two while striking out six total Cardinals in the 9-2 win.

Hunter continues to excel in a reliever role for the Baltimore Orioles, owning a 2-1 record with 22 strikeouts across 31.0 IP. He has been hot as of late, allowing just one earned run across his eight appearances in June on the way to collecting two holds. The righty has maintained a 0.90 ERA (1 ER/10.0 IP) with eight strikeouts compared to just one walk during the current month.

Nelson has made 14 stats for the Milwaukee Brewers, working a career-high 83.1 innings and notching three wins in the process. The third-year starter has 70 strikeouts compared to just 30 walks while limiting right-handed hitters to a lowly .233 (44-214) average. He has struck out five or more in eight of his starts, including a career-high 11 punchouts in his May 8 start against the Chicago Cubs.

Robertson continues to be one of the league's most dominant closers, owning a 2.35 ERA (8 ER/30.2 IP) with a 4-2 record and 14 saves for the Chicago White Sox. He has worked 24 scoreless appearances and allowed more than one earned run on just two occasions this season. The veteran had no problem acclimating to his new home on the Southside, beginning the season with 12 straight scoreless appearances. Over those first 12 relief outings, Robertson collected two wins and five saves, while adding 21 of his 42 total punchouts.
