More than two months after he was hired, Avery Johnson's contract with the University of Alabama is complete.

Approved on Tuesday by the UA board of trustee's compensation committee, the deal runs through 2021 and will pay Johnson more than $2.8 million a year. He'll make a base salary of $265,000 a year with a $2.535 million talent fee and $12,000 for expenses.

Is there some sort of rule that the head coach has to get a certain amount directly from the school, rather than gave the booster club puck up the whole tab? I guess it would have to do with health insurance and state retirement.
