CLEMSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Clemson kicker Ammon Lakip has been suspended from the Clemson football team indefinitely, officials at Clemson University announced Wednesday.
The suspension stems from an arrest earlier in June.
Clemson University police reports stated that officers arrested Lakip on June 6 and charged him with driving under the influence and possession of cocaine.
Police pulled over a black Audi that Lakip was driving around 1:39 a.m. after his vehicle was seen leaving an area with several bars and the driver did not use a turn signal while turning onto Highway 93 from College Avenue.
Officers reported that Lakip had trouble paying attention and had "the distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage about his breath and person." Officers performed several field sobriety tests and observed several indications that Lakip was intoxicated.
Officers also reported that a small amount of cocaine was discovered in a lip balm container in the vehicle.
