The first numerical Rivals100 for the class of 2017 is out and with that comes our first No. 1 player as well. And while many expected football prodigy Dylan Moses, the long-time LSU commitment from Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab who has been on the recruiting radar since before 8th grade, to be the easy choice for No. 1, it is actually Houston (Texas) Episcopal defensive tackle Marvin Wilson who takes the honor and becomes one of eight new five-stars in the class.

Alabama commits ranked:
Najee Harris, #7 in the nation
Netori Johnson, #24 in the nation

Re: Rivals Releases Top 100 for Class of 2017

#50 Aubrey Solomon goes to our high school here in Georgia and is a beast. Kirby Smart has been by a couple times to visit him and he made a visit to Tuscaloosa during our spring break this year to watch Spring practice.

I noticed several Huntsville kids on this list. Huntsville is producing some good D1 talent as of late.

He was impressed with the facilities, coaches and practices. Another one of our players (Chris Barnes) went on the visit with him but Chris committed to Georgia the following week. Not sure how Aubrey is leaning but he is getting a lot of attention from many suitors.

Wasn't sure where to put this but found this article almost comical suggesting that Alabama needs to recruit more like Notre Dame. The article makes a few good points (about having role players) but overall is laughable IMO.http://cdanews.com/2015/07/why-nick-saban-is-losing-favorability-in-recruiting/

Laughable is a good way to put it. One is I love how the press thinks we have fallen off the map since we barely missed winning NC the last 2 years. Two is we can't recruit QB's? 3 of our 5 QB's were Elite 11 guys with one being the #1 QB. We just won 3 NC with the same mix of 4 star and 5 star talent so mixing in a bunch of ND type players is short sighted. It would probably be a good idea to do just a little research before you write a glorified blog.

Please tell me this is a joke! That is the dumbest thing I've ever read. If you want to hate on CNS and Alabama then get some better subject than how he recruits. So how well did ND and their recruits do in the BCSCG against us? Does he really think coach Saban recruits 5 stars regardless what position they play? I doubt this guy even follows recruiting. I understand when you're on top that some people try to bring you down but this is just sad.

We've generally always have had good luck up that way. Especially in the 80's and 90's with a lot of the Courtland/Hazlewood talent with some mixed in from the other schools up that way. It's just been a while since we've had that top talent from up that way and it wouldn't surprise me if it is starting to come back due to the changes with the new schools up there.
