He'd better request segregation or he'll end up getting the Dahmer treatment. Offenders of his ilk are the lowest of the low in a prison population...
I am guessing the fact he is famous, rich and white won't help his chances.

I hadn't followed his case closely so I read one of the linked articles. I felt like throwing up. Anything that happens in prison is too good for him.

What a shame... he lived.

Guess there's always next time...
What is amazing is the prison population is said to have their own set of "morals" and "laws" within the prison. I've always heard that pedophiles and anyone who commits crimes against children are considered scum of the earth among other inmates who are....uh...criminals themselves. Many violent criminals.

I have a friend who earned money as a prison guard while in college. He said the reason for that social hierarchy is that many, if not most, of the prisoners were abused physically and/or sexually when they themselves were children.

Being in contact with those guys brings back all sorts of bad memories, resentment and anger. They take it out on the ones who did to others what was done to them.

Call it revenge by proxy.

Interesting, had never heard that, but makes sense.

And I have zero problem with it - anyone who victimizes children deserves whatever happens to them.

that was sort of like one of the story lines in the wire. in one of the later seasons, i think the guy's name is chris (one of the muscle guys along with snoop) and he mutilates some guy that was molesting boys

I have also heard that about the pervs being targets, never knew how much was true and how much was urban legend.

I recently listened to a radio program on this subject and they used JF as a prime example. The name they give child molesters is "Chomo", and to say they are mistreated by other inmates is an understatement.
From what I understand about JF, he has now taken to consuming Honey Buns by the boxful, and has gained 30+ lbs. since he's been in prison. Still, the other inmates continually walk up to him and slap his face repeatedly until he turns and runs away.
I'm sure he's been on the receiving end of what he dished out to innocent children. He gets no pity here.

Interesting theory, it could explain a lot. I did a stint as a Corrections Officer in the booking section at MCSO and I can tell you for a fact that when processing an inmate, we had to put all child molesters or pedophiles in protective custody and keep them isolated from the general population or it would get ugly very quickly. Normally ended up with a severe beating of the pedophile before another officer could get to them. Worst part for me was having to remain professional when booking them, you always hoped they would give you trouble.

Actually, I'm glad he lived so he can have further encounters with inmates. Death would end his suffering (at least on Earth), so let him sufer some more.

Another problem he has in prison is that most of the guys there have been in and out of jail most of their lives or run with gangs. So they are pretty tough dudes who have a lot of street smarts. I doubt Fogle is equipped to handle that.

In addition to the nature of his crime, being a celebrity will also make him a target.
