Chanson, I agree with you on spending cuts. Most Republicans only give lip service to the principles of conservatism, that's why Trump is trending so highly. We are sick of the lies and cowardice they display in Congress. All redistribution is socialism regardless of the direction it goes or the party who approves it.

A candidate's views encompass far more than economics.
Of course but that is one I cannot understand in a country that gave up so many to fight against that kind of oppression. Redistribution wrecks economies which are needed to support all other aspects of government and society. It has never worked in history and it will not work here in the long run.

Strange - I side with Rand Paul 79%, Bernie Sanders 75%.
Funny, for those two guys, I was 84% RP and 30% BS.

I don't know how accurate the survey is but I do like that questions can be weighted and that the "other stances" button opens up a little more in-depth reasoning to the selections.

I assuming that if I click on just Yes or just No for a particular issue the quiz can push me towards two somewhat opposite candidates who agree but for entirely different reasons. I'm guessing that if I select the same answer but with a reason like "its not for the federal government" vs a reason that is more social in nature then the quiz may point me to one candidate and not the other.

There are some issues that I may feel strongly about but I don't think the president would have much influence so it would not be a major contributor to my selection of a candidate. I figure I'd give less weight to these but maybe that goes against selecting a candidate that thinks like I do? Kinda fun though.

The survey said I was 94% Marco Rubio. Illegal immigration is one of my most important categories and according to this quiz, that is Marco Rubio's biggest issue. Kinda like "establishing the state of Israel was Hitler's greatest contribution." After the illegal immigrant amnesty fiasco last year, Rubio would be near my bottom choices.
Garbage in, garbage out, I suppose.

Now, Gore is weighing another run. If he and Biden enter, we have a wide-open race on the Democrat side as well. I thought this election was going to boring. I was wrong...

I can't understand why just one president when threatened with a shutdown doesn't just embrace it and say "Great, we waste more than we use properly. Let's shut down as much as we can until we can learn to be efficient."

Amen.

And if Biden and Gore do declare, I take that as a sign the Democrats have lost hope in Hillary. Talk about a double-edged sword and be careful what you wish for. I'm not sure Gore would be better than Hillary, in other words.

The Democrats, and to a certain extent, the Republicans, get their power from taking money from one group of people, and giving it to another group of people, and expanding the power of general government in the process.

When was the last time someone in Washington shrank either the power of the Federal government or its overall size? The Harding or Cleveland Administrations?

Gr8hope, you are a very wise individual.

Some people don't understand that most of us will end up as equals in poverty with the ELITE Socialist Democrats being our superiors. They will be the SLAVE MASTERS to the rest of us. There will be no incentive to be creative and innovative. That's what made our country so great (in the past). Our country's citizens are being Dumbed-down by Dumb, Dumber, and Dumbest politicians.

The American people need to rise up to both the Socialist Democrats (Termites) and the Stupid Republicans (Rats). We need two new political parties that represent honesty and integrity. Neither of the current two parties have those characteristics/traits! We need TERM limits to get RID of the infestation of RATS and TERMITES in the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches. Supreme Court justices remain on the bench until they are so senile that they have NO clue.

The Socialist Democrats are a bunch of jackasses and the Stupid Republicans don't deserve to have an Elephant as a symbol. The Alabama Crimson Tide is/are the only one/ones deserving that symbol!

Neither party gives a rats ________ about "We the People". They only care about how they can feather their own nests! Can you say CROOKS? Termites? Rats?
Toooooo many are lawyers who can't make it as real lawyers so they become politicians!

Give me words to describe a POLITICIAN? Some of mine are as follows: crooks, dishonest, lack integrity, imbeciles, morons, idiots, liars, deceivers, felons, phony, teleprompter termites, ……. We MUST get rid of this INFESTATION! If you had TERMITES or RATS taking over your home, wouldn't you call Terminex or a comparable pest control company? Well, we have TERMITES and RATS taking over our HOME COUNTRY, making it impossible for future generations (our children, grand children, great grand children, great-great grand children, et al) to have any chance to become successful.

I'd really like to see us represented by people who are NOT career politicians.

How could I forget to use the word "corrupt" in describing politicians? I just don't know.

95% Rubio even though I'm currently a Dr. Ben Carson supporter (89%). He is very intelligent and seems to have what I and my mother would call "good common sense". He's more qualified than any community organizer! How in the heck did Hillary get a 21% from me in that survey?!?. It should have shown a 0%! I don't respect liars, deceivers, corrupt, career politicians!

I have a proposal for a new law. The death penalty for lobbyists! The only lobbyists should be "We the People". Add to that list any politician who has been in Congress more than 12 years or is a crook, liar, deceiver, et al! Death Penalty by Hanging at High Noon on July 4 or any other good day with lots of fireworks!

Let's see, do Congressmen/women get RICH having lobbyists in Washington D. C.? I think so.

Out of approximately 320,000,000 (+ or- a few), I know we can do a better job of electing people who can better serve OUR country and its interests! Why should that same 435+100+9 remain in office until …….?

Should the above have been in BLUE???????

Lobbyists aren't the problem. The problem is the lobbyists with bags of money.

Don't get me wrong. We have a lobbyist problem when lobbying groups have large buildings right next to the capital, and there is plenty of corruption going on.

That said, how do you expect "we the people" to state our opinions to (which is to say lobby) our representatives for specific action? I certainly do not expect them to listen to each of us individually.

Democrats' Bernie Sanders troubles are just beginning
I enjoy Jonah Goldberg and anyone who disagrees with him is a racist anti-semite.
Goldberg's take on Sanders in interesting. Sanders is vastly outdrawing Hillary, at least so far. I know who I'm voting for in the Virginia Primary: Sanders, and only because Stalin isn't running.
There is this obiter dictum:

Should be an interesting election.
Indeed it will be.
