Heart palpitations

I'm just trying to see if this is something I need to get checked out soon or should I wait it out: for the past 5-6 days my heart has been fluttering occasionally throughout the day. Today has been worse because I've been under a lot of stress/sadness dealing with one of our dogs for the past 3 days. I also recently changed my diet. I am eating a lot less sugar now and trying to eat healthier. I am getting a lot more fiber in my diet as well.

I haven't checked my heart rate or blood pressure, but it is always normal when I get it checked. Last time I checked it was back in July at the doctor office.

I researched online, and it said it usually isn't something to be concerned about unless I have fatigue/shortness of breath, etc.

Get it checked out.

A lot depends on your age, health, and family history, but why take chances. I don't trust the online doctor because I've read so much misinformation.

Most people do have them and with everything you described it more than likely is normal but as they said above don't take chances.

Either that or quit checking out the hawt dudes. :biggrin2:

Yes, first to your primary provider and ask for a referral to a cardiologist. They'll give you a once over and there's probably nothing to worry about, but it'll put your mind to ease...
Not trying to sidetrack the thread, but this is one of those 'unintended consequences' of Obamacare. In order to see any specialist, you must go to your primary physician and get a referral. I learned this the hard way when I had to take Mrs. Reb to her orthopedist. He repaired her knee after a fall last month and he told her to make an appointment to see him for a follow-up. She did so, but upon arrival we were told that we had to see her primary physician first and get a referral from him. What a headache that turned out to be!
Now, back to the subject at hand.
Jessica, by all means go see your primary physician first. He/she will check you out and if a referral to a cardiologist is necessary, they'll give you the proper referral.

Jessica: Been there, done that. Probably inconsequential, but GET IT CHECKED. Also watch caffeine (chocolate) and over the counter allergy and decongestant meds (nothing with a "D" behind the name.)

Probably harmless, but one of those things you do not put off getting checked out. If you have chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, pass out, or have other worrying symptoms that go with it have someone take you to the emergency room immediately. Otherwise, call your doc in the morning and tell them why you need an appointment.

Hey Jessica........not sure what the circumstances are with you doggie but just wanted to send some good vibes your way.

Obviously regarding your heart issue - do what everyone else says - get it checked out. I wish I could add more but I don't have any experience in this.

This is really not new and most insurance companies have required it for decades. The main exception is if you know the specialist personally and can skirt around it that way. Another way is to go into an urgent care facility, complaining of the palpitations. They'll send you immediately to the ER. Also, if you go directly to the ER with the complaint (it's best to complain of chest pains at the same time), you'll get back quickly and the cardiologist on call will come to you in the ER. Chest pains, throwing up in the waiting room or noticeable bleeding will all get you back to the treatment cubicles fast in the ER...

Thank you for the kind words. Our little Maltese, Macy, passed away after a rough weekend with seizures, which she never had any till Saturday morning. Vet thinks it was a brain tumor, but we don't know for sure. She died a little after midnight Tuesday morning so not much sleep that night so I was wandering if that had something to do with my palpitations. But it had been doing it all last week before this happened so who knows. It became worse yesterday.
