An obvious attempt at something other than science - if this is all a 14 year old is capable of (literally disassembling a clock and placing it in a case - nothing more), then he's either lazy or stupid.

That's the thing - from all accounts he was capable of more complicated projects, and was a notorious prankster. Typical bored smart kid. I'm kinda surprised his engineering teacher didn't laugh him out of class for such an "invention".

It'll be interesting to see how the school and city respond. If it goes to court, all the details currently protected by the parents refusing to waive privacy will become public.
